TC2 - I support itView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 39 of 39 messages posted.
Time to get on or off the wagon... “As I read the posts, and glance at the calendar, I see that the event, if it is to happen (And I believe it WILL), needs the support of the people on this site. Wether you believe in the event or are dead set against it, the clock is ticking....and it is way to late to begin making changes to the venue..... I didn't help out one bit with the planning or the operation of this event, so I have no right to complain, my choice is simple...go or don't. I choose to attend, and I will make every effort to thank those of you that HAVE worked so hard to see this happen. Next year, I encourage those of you who have issues with the planning or execution of the event to get involved early on, and provide solutions to the problems you see; but now, at this late date, what we need most is the support of everyone to make it work for THIS year. I am an opinionated sum bit*h who will have my say, but once the decision is made, I will work to support it, regardless of my personal feelings. Time to SHOW those folks on the "Other" site how well we work/hike together.” 9:28:19 AM 11/25/02 TC2 is happening “The event is happening. It is going to be great! Everything is just about set and it's a matter of finishing up on a few minor details. It's not a big headache when several people are doing different things to help it be a success. This event is going to be great. The prizes for the winners are very very nice. A couple of the local gear stores will be there as well as the Hennessy Hammock rep and Leki rep and still waiting to hear from a few others. This event will be great this year for as little time we had to prepare for it. Next year, people have a whole year to plan for it. As far as the b!tchin goes. My theory is this "If your gonna b!tch, HAVE A SOLUTION THAT YOU PERSONALLY ARE GOING TO HELP WITH!, b!tchin with no solution is no good to anyone." If you want something to change then you change it. That means you have to get off your whining little rear and actually do something to make it different. Did I say it was going to be a great event?” 9:37:49 AM 11/25/02 i really want to go but.... “...can someone please post Towndawgs website url one more time?? I am a little confused about where and when it is. now, all you have to do is cross your fingers for me. (still did not ask hubby)” 9:53:08 AM 11/25/02 “A lot of hard work has gone into this in the past few weeks by a lot of people. This will be a first class event.” 9:57:12 AM 11/25/02 “I agree. Hope to see lots of TT'ers there and have a great time!” 10:00:40 AM 11/25/02 gemini 10:03:52 AM 11/25/02 “I heard the judging is "fixed"” 10:06:46 AM 11/25/02 “Actually the price for a win opened at $20, but is rising faster than a dot.com launch did a few years ago.” 10:08:24 AM 11/25/02 “it's on ebay, or you can deal directly with me. lol!” 10:09:33 AM 11/25/02 “I haven't been following TC2, because I definitely can't make it. I do think its a great thing and am amazed at the energy Town Dawg and others have put into it. My question, after reading this thread is: Is there a problem with TC2? Is there a chance it won't come off? I'd assumed everything was going well.” 10:26:09 AM 11/25/02 “pedxing,,it is alive and well” 10:27:01 AM 11/25/02 “thanks!!!! started to get confused there for a sec....” 10:28:09 AM 11/25/02 “chili, it is alive and well, but it sounds like its starting to feed on itself! I do hope this thing works out great for everyone that is able to attend. (~sniff~ wish i could go)” 10:32:49 AM 11/25/02 “I will definetly be there. I will share the product of my super secret trail recipes. (not the receipes themselves of course). If you see someone wandering around that you don't recognize, just walk right up to them and ask if its me. Even if I say no, just keep pestering me.” 10:36:46 AM 11/25/02 “mapleleaf, At one point, I was afraid it might implode on itself. However, it the past three weeks, I have become very comfortable that it will be successful.” 10:37:07 AM 11/25/02 “I hope so. Sorry i cant be there to taste your chili!! ps, how about a sample in the mail? hay, dehydrate it then send it to me???” 10:41:46 AM 11/25/02 “I'm glad to hear it Chili. If y'all needed help to keep it alive, I'm sure us non-attenders would try to pitch in.” 10:47:03 AM 11/25/02 “Plans for Tc3 will be made during Tc2. I am sure there will plenty to do and "volunteers" will be drafted for next years event.” 10:48:24 AM 11/25/02 “Be mighty skeered of the word "volunteers" placed in quotes! Course, I "volunteered" for chili... and it wasn't THAT BAD!! (still suffering the scars and seeking continued treatment...) LOL!” 11:55:37 AM 11/25/02 “liz, was it that bad?” 1:07:18 PM 11/25/02 chili... “every night, I had to hear her cry about how she was having to do remakes at your heavy handed meanness...or something like that.” 4:01:19 PM 11/25/02 “LOL!!! **SWAT** (course stikkie will probably like that) No, chili, j/k... was fine. I like doing stuff like that... finding the points that need to be clarified and then, hopefully, making the whole thing easily readable and accessible to whomever needs/wants to read it.” 4:06:54 PM 11/25/02 “lol.. I judged chili at parsons crossroads.. I think I personally sampled 35?.. wow.. good stuff.. and surprisingly.. even with the strict CASI rules regarding how chili is produced.. a lot of differences. :)” 4:10:20 PM 11/25/02 “Be sure to visit the HMWH Clubhouse! hehehehe” 6:47:02 PM 11/25/02 “I think it is going to be a great time for all. My wife, trailname Backpacking Princess, who never winter camped with me for the last 30 years, is taking a day off work to come down Thursday night for the pleasure of sleeping on the ground December 6, and 7th.” 7:08:41 PM 11/25/02 “prosecutor, are we going to reinact live the "You can kiss my black a$$" thread on backpacker.com?” 7:13:20 PM 11/25/02 “prosecutor's coming? i know which tent my dog's pissin on. JK.” 7:15:52 PM 11/25/02 Driving Directions? “Have driving directions been posted. Years ago I did a lot of caving North of Jamestown. That's the general area isn't it?” 7:16:07 PM 11/25/02 “Looking foward to TC2!! Has the directions to the field been posted anywhere yet?” 7:17:49 PM 11/25/02 stove stomper “yeah, it's near jamestown” 7:24:32 PM 11/25/02 “What is Appaloosa Field near. Can't find it on the map.” 7:31:02 PM 11/25/02 8:22:46 PM 11/25/02 “Cool! Thanks HPM.” 9:01:34 PM 11/25/02 9:37:40 PM 11/25/02 “Prosecutor asked Buddha Bear for a large loan. Not to be fooled with, Buddha Bear asked Prosecutor how he would be able to repay the loan. Prosecutor replied, "I make bets." Buddha Bear asked, "Bets? What kind of bets?" Prosecutor said, "Well, for example, I'll bet you $25,000 that your balls are square." "Ha!" laughed the Buddha Bear, "That's a stupid bet. You can never win that kind of bet!" Prosecutor said, "So, would you like to take my bet?" "Sure," said Buddha Bear, "I'll bet $25,000 that my balls are not square!" Prosecutor then said, "Okay, but since there is a lot of money involved, may I bring Ductape with me tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. as a witness so I can confirm by feel that your balls are square?" "Sure!" replied the confident Buddha Bear. That night, the Buddha Bear got very nervous about loosing a bet to Prosecutor and spent a long time in front of a mirror checking his balls, turning from side to side, again and again. He thoroughly checked them out until he was sure that there was absolutely no way his balls were square and that he would win the bet. The next morning, at precisely 10:00 am, Prosecutor and Ductape met up with Buddha Bear. Prosecutor said it was time, and Buddha Bear dropped his pants exposing his big backside to Prosecutor and Ductape as he promised. Prosecutor asked Buddha Bear for the final proof. "Well, Okay," said Buddha Bear, "It's your bet and you should be absolutely sure." Prosecutor grabbed Buddha Bear and just then, Ductape fainted. Buddha Bear asked Prosecutor, "What the heck's wrong with Ductape?" "Nothing," Prosecutor answered, "Except I bet Ductape $100,000 that at 10:00 a.m. today, I'd have Buddha Bear by the balls."” 9:49:03 PM 11/25/02 “hahaha, dude i can tell you're not as hardassed as you first came off to me "over there." im still tellin my dog to aim for your tent though. but then again, a couple weeks ago i spent the whole weekend trying to get him to piss on buddha bear's tent and he wouldn't do it.” 9:56:04 PM 11/25/02 “I mountain biked the Duncan Creek road and loop a few years back from the Bandy Creek Campground. Nice... Also, I hiked the O & W Overlook Road. That trail is not too far past the store or Big South Fork's official eastern entrance near Oneida, a left-hand turn. You hike on a former road that sits smack dab in the middle of private property (if it is still the same) It was a nice overlook to the river below. So, you have the main Tc2 contest at 5 p.m. in the dark? Just curious... do you have lots of lights available? Backpackers can readily deal with the darkness, but spectators unfamiliar with it might think it strange....... (This question originally came up when I was working with Chili on a press release. I hadn't seen the schedule of events at that time.)” 11:58:40 PM 11/25/02 Gotta Stay Put “Some of us would like to be there, but won't be able to make it.” 4:31:10 AM 11/26/02 “A lot of folks will start cooking earlier of course.. our plan is to have all the entries ready for judging by 5pm.. Yes, we will need lights.. A lot of us will drag in all sorts of lighting. One of the reasons we went with 5pm was to allow folks plenty of time to HIKE during the day. There are way too many nice 5-10 mile hikes that I am hoping everyone will take advantage of. Looks like you got all your other questions answered. So do we WANT snow?.. or hoping it will stay away?.. :)” 7:30:00 AM 11/26/02
