sleeping bag neededView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 19 of 19 messages posted.
childs sleeping is needed “a zero degree kids bag is being sought by stratusloop...anyone have one they don't use anymore and want to unload?” 10:12:35 AM 11/25/02 “dija check ebay?” 6:50:38 PM 11/25/02 0 Degree kid's bag? “A 0 degree kid's bag is almost impossible to find, this is an INCREDIBLY small market which most manufacturer's wouldn't pursue. Also seem like an very high liability risk pool. I'll be curious to learn if you find ANY 0 degree kid bags...” 7:08:37 PM 11/25/02 Another thought “If Stratusloop takes a "standard" (assume 20 degree) bag and makes a few changes ' additions it can become a 0 degree equivalent bag rather easily. Local fabric stores sell fleece in rolls; buy the appropriate length, fold-over to create an "envelope", then sew up the bottom & you have a great liner that will add anywhere between 10 & 15 degrees to your existing bag. Lots of details to attend to, but this is the cheapest, quickest way to get kids ready for a winter camping experience. Also remember to have extra ground-insulation, that's a bigger source of problem han the bag not offering adequate insulation.” 7:49:49 PM 11/25/02 “Buy an adults zero degree bag and alter it. Cut it to length, add a draw cord and remove the collar and reattach it were it's needed. I bet it wouldn't be but a days work, and you can probably find an adult's 0* bag on ebay or something. I was thinking the same as Wanderer about the availability of kid's cold weather bags. Please do post any you find...I'm interested to see what's out there for the future.” 11:08:02 PM 11/25/02 ....thanks for the ideas... “...yes it is a very small market for this particular item...so my hunt will probably come to an end real soon and i'll have to resort to one of the ideas already posted or just get a "women's" size bag which tends to be cut slightly smaller or slimmer anyhow... ..hey Stikmon...thanks for being my agent on this one....” 8:28:38 AM 11/26/02 ROFLMAO!!!! “STratusloop alter an existing sleeping bag...now thats funny!!! needle and thread and sewing machines are foriegn languages to him...LOL. But the idea of altering an existing bag with a liner is a good one. Dude. why don't you just use what you already have and just buy a liner to go with it, and then Little Miss is good to go. I wouldn't spend any big dollars on something that she is going to out grow and only use a few times.” 9:04:35 AM 11/26/02 9:35:20 AM 11/26/02 “There ya go, get a fleece liner for it and you've got zero degrees! Looks like it's a bulky little bag. How big's the kiddo?” 10:01:42 AM 11/26/02 “Why modify an adult bag and risk screwing it up? Just tie off the unneeded length with some cord. When Jr gets bigger remove the cord.” 10:19:50 AM 11/26/02 “Get a kids 20-30 degree bag and use it as a liner in an adult 15-20 degree bag.” 10:58:49 AM 11/26/02 ...i agree with humanpackmule... “...btw...that name still cracks me up whenever I see it...why would I mess around with a bag...you're right...i'd probably screw it up The the "kiddo" is gonna be 7 Sassafras.... The only issue with getting a 20-30 degree bag with a liner is that someone like myself is gonna have to carry it...but for car camping it's not a problem... I like the idea of getting an adult size bag (0 degree down)and then making do with what we got...something like that...” 11:50:01 AM 11/26/02 “If you use an adult bag, I would think you would have to alter it considerably. His little body could not produce enough heat to fill up the void. But there must be an answer, I will also check around.” 2:23:50 PM 11/26/02 “You could use that spray-in foaming insulation. Put the kid in the bag, spray in the insulation until the bag is full, and when it sets up, the little tyke is toasty all night. Of course, you have to chip them out of the bag in the morning...” 2:27:33 PM 11/26/02 “sasafrass: I bought a couple North Face kids bags this summer. They are 40 degree bags so they are summer only - you could use a liner in fall. The nice thing is they are 28 oz and fit in a 5 x 12 stuff sack. They also have a large attached sack with shoulder straps if preferred. http://www.campmor.com/webapp/commerce/command/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=6865229&prmenbr=226” 2:45:33 PM 11/26/02 ROTFLMAO!!! “Bitpusher you just killed me!!” 2:57:08 PM 11/26/02 “Nice to know someone appreciates fine humor...lol....” 3:09:04 PM 11/26/02 bitpusher... “your a sick pup...go straight to the medical wing for further analysis” 5:32:15 PM 11/26/02 “Jeez bitpusher, that's too funny!” 5:34:57 PM 11/26/02
