Oh you are hiking on Saturday. Can you all plan a hike with a "just the facts" type of summary occasionally. With my apparent attention deficit, these free flow threads are really tough to follow.

I will attempt to talk my kids into hiking on Saturday. They already said no, but they always say that. I will pack up the car with their boots and daypacks, and then ask them if they want to go get some bagels. Once they are munching bagels ....

Now you sound like me driving my first wife farther and farther from Laurel, Md., on Sunday drives until one day, we arrived at my destination: Skyline Drive.

"Wow, Skyline Drive, who would have thunk we were that close?"

"You planned this, didn't you" (uttered with icy disdain).

Now Geobeet, you know that us females practice that "icy disdain voice" from the time we are in grade school. What would be the point if we didn't use it on someone once in a while?

She would have had to cut way down to achieve "once in awhile."

A feminist friend once told me I should have hit her when she lost it one night. The friend wasn't kidding, either. First time I knew a guy could get in trouble for NOT hitting his wife!

My grandchildren hate her.

In fact, now that I think of it, icy disdain was the preferable mood.

I guess when I look at the forecast Friday night. If it is icy, I probably won't want to take the kids and the hubby will be in Atlanta helping his sis move, so I have to stick like glue to the kids.

Up on the A-Trail it will be colder than 50. I'll stick with my upper 30s. I will probably not be able to do more than 5 miles, but if anybody wants to push on that would be okay.

I have to leave work for rehab at noon, and will work from home the rest of the day. I'll check the board in the afternoon.

To borrow a phrase from Crazy Mike, this will be so pimp!

Corporal, take care of that little piggy. Frankly, my unsolicited advice would be that you not hike the Cats trip, but it's your foot.

Maple, my hat's off to ya. That's worse than doing the Knife Edge in fog with ice and 2,000 other hikers on the trail vying for treadway. If you don't return, we'll build a memorial to ya at Kirkridge Shelter. "On this spot in 2002, Maple Leaf wet her pants when she learned about Brian the Stalker." Hmmm, maybe I'll start chiseling it out now and erect it in any event.

I appreciate the concern Geo, and the advice, but being as ignorant as I am, I'll be going on the Cats trip anyway. It's only a toe, and I think God gave us ten of them because he figured we'd lose one here and there along the way. If they were so important, we'd only be given one, and it'd be a lot bigger.

Well dang Lyndy, how are we gonna have fun without you? Hopefully there will be more day hikes, depending on weather and how my leg is doing. It is improving, so I expect I'll get out every chance I get depending on just weather.

Red squirrels are wanton. One used my tent for a slide in the Daks one year. Perverted rodent!"

It was wierd. I woke up and heard what sounded like little feet running up one side of the tent and a swooshing sound down the other side. I thought, "I must be going crazy, because that can't be what is happening!"

I crawled out of the tent, not entirely happy to be awake at that hour, flashed my light around the campsite, and saw nothing but a red squirrel in a tree. I crawled back into the tent, back into the sack, and was just drifting off when it started again.

This time I crawled out of the tent, walked a few yards away, and sat down on a rock with the light off. I waited and waited until I heard the sound again and caught the little son of a beyitch in the beam as he was sliding down the tent. The little $hit was using my tent as a slide. I threw a rock at him and crawled back into the sack, so exhausted I didn't hear him the rest of the night.

Probably a distant cousin of Psycho.

Those red squirrels in the Daks are trouble, though. They slide down the nylon rope of the food bag and nibble into Gorp bags. But unlike Psycho devouring tomatoes, they don't eat much.

If they had a clue about anything, I might worry. They don't have any guts anyway. Couple of wimpy twits hiding behind troll identities pretending anybody gives a rat's ass what they have to say. Delusions of mediocrity. Zack could waltz circles around their pea-sized minds. Let them rant. Nobody pays any attention except themselves, and they are all probably just one idiot anyway. They can't spell, can't write coherent sentences, and most of all can't say anything that makes sense. Big man on campus! Mommy weaned him too soon!

'hiding behind troll identities pretending anybody gives a rat's ass what they have to say.' and 'Nobody pays any attention except themselves.'

You care enough and pay enough attention to respond with that screed up there.

'Delusions of mediocrity.'

Do you have a macro that fills that phrase in for you? Couldn't you come up with something more creative, or at least that you haven't used 37 times, from your non-pea-sized mind? How about 'Delusions of Quayleness' as an example?

I have also noticed that you make a lot of references to 'mom' and 'mommy' in reference to people you do not like on this board. Is this because of some unresolved 'mother' issues you have yourself? Or is this just another manifestation of your complete lack of creativity and original thought processes?
