I hate my daypack

“have some heavy a$$ nike daypack that I bought in outlet store once. Don't like it very much. Then I bought the golite daypack. Not great either, the shoulder straps are, hmm, I don't know...just not on the right spot I guess.

any ideas on daypacks?

“Take a look at the Camelbak packs. I have a Cloudwalker that holds 2 liters of liquid. It has plenty of room for a raincoat, lunch, first aid kit, etc.”

all of the daypacks are really awfull, but I don't want to hike with a huge pack if I don't do an overnighter.

“Gemini, like MDSHiker, we use CamelBaks. For dayhiking I use a Peak Bagger, while Weezr has a Rim Runner. For mtn. biking and the commute to work I use a Cloud Walker. Mine have seen LOTS of use and abuse with no problems. Weezr's is new, but to date, she couldn't be more pleased.

not a great pack and I paid $50 for it. the straps are just, well I guess on the wrong spot. I would sell the golite daypack for $40 (plus shipping). I have never used it

There are a lot of good packs out there.. you know that. A good store can tell you the merits and pitfalls of each and every one, with no bias other than their personal experiences.”

“I've never really found a daypack that felt good right out of the box either. For that reason every one I own, I modified to fit me better. It's pretty easy to sew on your own shoulder straps and hipbelts and you wind up with a better feeling pack than you can ever find off the shelf. One on the problems with day packs is that they a generally short in the torso so the weight tends to hang off and too far from your back. If the pack is short to begin with there isn't much you can do to fix it, so I'd just rule those packs out if I was looking for one.”

“the daypack I have is called a lumberpack because it has a hip belt and no shoulder straps. You can turn it into a bag with a single strap that comes with it, and it has a nice handle on it to carry it.”

“I use a Burton SNWBRDS day pack. I think it is for snowboarding, but as a daypack, it kicks tail. Good fit, roomy, but not so big that I end up weighing myself down.”

“While I wouldn't endorse the Jansport packs that are simply glorified book bags, I do like my Jansport Dartfrog day pack. Very well organized and comfortable design -- very versatile, to the point of being capable of an ultralite overnight. Sunshine has one, too, and says she has been happy with it as well.”
