Ours is:
There's company a' commin from near and from far,
They'er a commin by bus, by plane & by car.

A big baked turkey,
with all the trimmins.
Like cornbread dressin',
and the giblet gravy,
in which it's swimmin.

There's Cranberry Sauce,
It's right tart,
And jellied ones too,
Of which I'll eat a right smart.

Mashed potatos an' candied yams,
Fresh green beans, and a big smoked ham.

We've got soft dinner rolls,
piping hot,
And plenty o' fresh butter, so use a lot.

There's a fresh-fruit salad, with lots a' stuff,
And a big Jello salad, that's enuff.

To drink, there's coffee or tea, or milk,
And kool-aid or punch, for the kids and their ilk.

Dessert, don't forget, we have a lot,
With pumpkin, pecan, and sweet potato pie, that'll hit the spot.

We'll serve them up with Cool-whip or ice cream,
Whichever you choose, It tastes like a dream.

So to all on Thanksgiving, I wish you all well,
Give Thanks to our Maker,
And the rest of 'em hell!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Sirloin grilled over a fire by the banks of Otter Creek.....I hope we can find dry enough wood.

Chunky Soup warmed in the can by the same fire.

Rice pilaf and carrots.

And a nice cup of freeze-your-A$$-off.
The temperature should be in the teens Thursday night.

My Baked Stuffed Turkey Receipe

10-20 lb turkey
3 cups melted butter
5 cups stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is ok)
2 cups uncooked popcorn (Orville Redenbacher's)
salt and pepper to taste

preheat oven to 350 degrees
brush turkey with melted butter, salt & pepper

stiff turkey with stuffing and popcorn

place turkey in baking pan with the
neck end towards the back of the oven. Listen for the popping sounds.
When the turkey's a$$ blows the oven door open and the bird flies across the room, it is done

and you thought a guy couldn't cook a turkey

On our menu?

NGB and I will be having chicken from a foil pouch, instant dressing, instant potatoes, gravy from a mix, dehydrated peas and corn and probably a mini pecan pie.

All on ridge above Cumberland Gap.

One of my favorites...is so simple, my grandmother used to make them. Baked peaches...with a bit of butter, brown sugar, and a touch of cinnamon...and a cherry on top!

I'm in charge of making yeast rolls, veggie/rice/cheese casserole, and gingerbread cake! ENS should be in charge of bringing some good beer. My grandma's a Milwaukee's Best kinda girl, so she'll probably only have that handy. LOL!

I love that first one XL, but the second one made me laugh out loud as well...I'm glad I'm in an office by myself now!

I'm always in charge of fruit and nuts, and sometimes bring something different. One year I stuffed olives and they were a hit, so I'm doing that again.

Hey Crazygurl, fresh peaches or canned peaches? I really miss my grandma's pickled peached though. Those things were great.

I am in charge of making a torta - I make a basil pesto, then layer a ricotta/cream cheese mixture with that and a sun dried tomato pesto (bought, not made - so sue me!). Refridge overnight - voila, instant yum!

I am no longer in charge of pumpkin pie, ever since I forgot to put the sugar in. They were a little on the bland side that year. Oops!

A good save for if you forget to put sugar in the pumpkin pie again- make a homemade caramel sauce. Caramelize sugar and just a little water, cook until it is the shade/ flavor of caramel you like (keep a very close eye on it) remove form the heat and stir in some whipping cream or half and half. Drizzle it over the pie slices and you're golden, so to speak.

I won't have to worry about it, tree - I've been banned from the pie!!!
