Anyone Looking For A Lightweight Tent? 4:17:39 PM 11/27/02 “With member discount and shipping, the price was $97.99. Not too shabby for a quality one person tent weighing in at approximately 2.5 lbs. If you're looking at lightening your load but not your wallet, here you go. Plus X-mas is coming up.” 4:23:00 PM 11/27/02 “Isn't that the tent that aero has? Looks sweet - I wish I could justify spending money on a tent!” 4:32:53 PM 11/27/02 “guys.... check out the MH batray on sale at STP. It weighs a little more, but is heads and shoulders better than dart. My buddy has a dart, and he has big time condensation problems. I saw Birch and Sass's batray a month ago, and they didn't have any condy problems. And - it's less than $50, with that deal, it justified buying another tent. Check out the batray thread, links on there.” 4:42:05 PM 11/27/02 “I do like that tent too I am always a sucker for small tents I love my small bivy style tent I might just have to look into this! Man I spend too much money on gear but it makes you feel good. 8)” 4:48:18 PM 11/27/02 “pepperDog, yes I believe that's the tent Aero uses and if I recall, he's pretty happy with it. BB, isn't a BatRay a tarp? If it's a tarp, versus a tent then their will certainly be less condensation. On the other hand it won't offer the same weather protection. I will certainly check it out though. Thanks.” 4:49:11 PM 11/27/02 “Geezr, it's a tarp/tent combo. you need a groundcloth, and you're set. I must say, I am prejudiced though, being 6'4", those lil' bivys & 1 man's are like a coffin to me. And, I HATE condesation.” 4:53:13 PM 11/27/02 “That could be a bad thing for you bear! I love mine. 8)” 4:54:16 PM 11/27/02 “BB, looks like a great buy for someone looking for a tarp. Reg. price $165 marked down to $47.95 plus shipping. Can't beat that. Unfortunately it weighs a pound more than the Dart and I'm looking at shedding pounds. It does sleep two though which might work better if you're not looking for a solo tent.” 4:55:41 PM 11/27/02 “I had a walrus microswift once, used it a few times. No condensation, but I couldn't move in the darn thing. I think I sold it to stikmon, or somebody here.” 4:56:43 PM 11/27/02 “Lots to mull over. Back to the think tank. Thanks Bear.” 4:58:38 PM 11/27/02 “BB. I hear you on those Bivy tents. I am not tall but I just can't stand that casket feeling you get in one of them. I like your Treker Tarp with insert but MSR wants an arm and a leg for them now. I keep hoping and old walrus brans will show up somewhere. I admit that Bat Ray caught my eye and at that price I just might get it” 4:59:50 PM 11/27/02 “I wish I could get my hands on the Micro-Swift but they don't make it anymore! 8)” 5:01:40 PM 11/27/02 “Geezr - When my dog Ticha needed to shed a few pounds I substituted a bunch of canned pumpkin for half of her kibble for about 3 months. The pounds melted away and a year later she has maintained her girlish figure.” 5:15:43 PM 11/27/02 “Ewker - check ebay, they might have some. CMB - the version of the "microswift" is still being made by MSR, and cheaper versions by just about everybody else. Check out old photo's of microswift, and you'll see they are everywhere.” 5:18:44 PM 11/27/02 “pepper, I can take a hint. You sound just like Weezr. ;-) I promise to get back on track right after Thanksgiving, honest.” 5:36:36 PM 11/27/02 “I know but I want the Swift! 8)” 5:51:19 PM 11/27/02 kelty dart “One thing about the kelty dart is that condensation builds up on the inside of the tent and your sleeping bag soakes it up..There is not enough ventalation on that tent.” 7:55:42 PM 11/27/02 microswift... “BB you sold it to me...its great!!! but yes, very small and confining. it performed great in the rain, no condensation...sets up like a rock, if your good at setting up a tent. I am looking at the getting the MH tri light 1 with my rei dividend, and will be looking to unload the microswift, I paid you $80.00 for it and would sell it for the same...I have only used it on 2 trips since you sent it to me back in June. Its still immaculate!!! CMB...are you interested” 10:43:16 AM 11/28/02 “Sleeping capacity 1 Average minimum weight 2 lbs. 4 oz. Average packaged weight 2 lbs. 8 oz. Floor dimensions 87 x 36 inches Peak height 29 inches AKA coffin I had a microswift once, used it twice, took it back to Campmor for a one man tent upgrade. I have to agree on the condensation thing. I do a lot of winter camping where I stay in lean-to's so I already have lower rated bags than I need. When I am in areas that don't have them I use a warmer sleeping bag and a 3 season tent. That stays true until it gets around 10 degree and below, then I use a 2 walled 4 season conversion tent Sierra Design Omega CD I think, I'm not sure I've had it for quite some time, It's really nice and big enough for 2 but it does weigh about 7lbs. It's nice for when there are 2 of ya's so one can take the tent and the other can take the poles, that helps keep the weight down to a more reasonable level.” 10:58:08 AM 11/28/02 “It's a tent for gawds sake not a Motel 6. 87"x36" is more room than I get in my bed at home. You're backpacking, quit wimpering.” 2:28:31 PM 11/28/02
