fleece at old navyView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 35 of 35 messages posted.
“the base layer thread reminded me of a qustion I wanted to ask last week but forgot. Old navy has this special right now on fleece turtle necks. I think they are $16.99. I did not check them out yet, so I don't know how thick they are. Well, here my question: will any fleece do, or is the mature $$$$ fleece at all those hiking sites a special treaded fleece? I hate to spend $60 for a shirt if I can get it for $16, you help would be appriciated and rewarded with some gluewine at the tc2 :)” 9:31:42 PM 12/01/02 “I bought the 16.50 performance fleece this weekend at Old Navy and I love it! I wore a long sleeve thin shirt under it and it kept me warm. I havent tested it out in real cold weather yet. I also bought the Old Navy parka for $36 and its great! It's really warm.” 9:33:32 PM 12/01/02 “I'd order a Campmor fleece instead.. about the same price, probably more durable, and you'll look more like a hiker rather than a 14 year old girl who chews bubble gum and hangs out at the mall all day.” 9:33:44 PM 12/01/02 “hey, hey santa!!! You don't know if I want to look like a 14 year old. that maybe would be pretty interesting, but probaby pretty hard to do. :) never saw a $16 fleece at campmor, i'll check it out. In the meantime I still get me some at old navy (thanks miss opie), and hope I'll look like a 14 year old again LOL” 9:36:02 PM 12/01/02 “Quit being the damn fashion police Santartex. :) Cheap fleece ROCKS! I got some at Wal-Mart for $6.” 9:38:09 PM 12/01/02 “$6?? how lucky are you? Gosh...I NEVER find great deals like that!! NEVER EVER!!!!” 9:38:55 PM 12/01/02 9:40:55 PM 12/01/02 “Gemini - I got a really nice fleece jacket at Campmor a few months back for $20. Another bonus which I discovered post-purchase was that it zips into my North Face shell perfectly. But if you can get a fleece jacket at Walmart for 6 bucks like Stovestomper did, that's a heckuva bargain! By the way, I like Old Navy. I just can't stand their commercials. :-)” 9:42:35 PM 12/01/02 9:45:18 PM 12/01/02 “At the end of last years hunting seasons, Wal Mart had a large rack of hooded fleece pullovers in a gray/white camo pattern. I think the camo was for snow conditions. It snows down here about once ever five years. I got ten of them for $6 each. Gave most of them to the family.” 9:48:09 PM 12/01/02 “my old navy fleece is my favorite jacket in the whole world....” 9:48:49 PM 12/01/02 “My question is... did they freeze Morgan Fairchild in 1985 and thaw her out for the commercials?” 9:51:13 PM 12/01/02 “again, it's not my size. sassy maybe, but it won't look sassy if i drowned in it. A medium is okay, but a large? hmm, I think it just will be too big. most of my cloth I order online are just too large (I am only 5' 2") I guess I just don't have the hang of it yet on how to order cloth online. I think I am going to check out the stores tomorrow. Artex, it's not that I don't have any "cool" real hiking cloth yet, I do :) but I think some fleece for the pack (or emergengies) would not hurt. $6 or $16 is a great price even with the "old navy" logo on it. (and that from someone that's really not an old navy fan at all)” 9:53:44 PM 12/01/02 “I dont know about the Old Navy where you live Gemini, but the one here had plenty of fleeces over the weekend. They have the half zip performance fleece for 16.50 and the double fleece jacket for 24.00. They have all colors and sizes. I'm small, but I had to get a large because they are made small.” 9:58:55 PM 12/01/02 “thanks miss opie. I am going to check it out tomorrow. Hopefully some will still be left.” 10:07:01 PM 12/01/02 “Got my fleece at Old Navy. It's a fleece sweatshirt I paid $9 for, plus I got an orange fleece stocking cap as well. They keep me warm, and that's all that counts, lol... Well that and they were cheap.” 10:31:05 PM 12/01/02 “fleece is fleece, have you ever seen a fleece that hasn't held up? I've got a couple of old navy fleece'se's'es. There still keeping me warm after 3 years of use. I always buy the cheapest gear I can find if I don't have time to make it my self. Never felt like anything was a bad purchase.” 10:45:17 PM 12/01/02 “I find the quality at ON really crap.I can ALWAYS find quality name brand stuff at Ross or Marshalls or my local thrift store and for less cash or same.ON stuff looks and is poorly made junk. This is a rant cuz i know some peeps who buy there but I dont wanna tell em the stuff looks like shyyyyyyyyytte...” 11:42:16 PM 12/01/02 “I've been using a cheap fleece jacket I bought at Target 6 years ago...it's still in great shape.” 12:18:27 AM 12/02/02 “I think I'm superficial and materialistic... Those aren't necessarily bad traits, are they? I love Marmot's Micro-T. It is like 5x as much as old navy, but I'm never happy unless I get exactly what I want. Patagonia's Regulator series kicks all forms of ass, also! I'm rambling because it is finals week and the procrastination has begun. Besides, you are bored or you wouldn't have read this far. Anyone else heading into finals?” 12:34:59 AM 12/02/02 “finals...dont remind me...i have reason to believe in going insane...just let me die but i got a faded glory fleece pullover from goodwill for $5, and it seems like good stuff, also got a double layer jacket made for me (mom sewed it up for me years ago) that is really warm, both have held up great so far, had the jacket for years, but the pullover is new (at least to me) im thinking about making a neck gaiter/hat outta some old scraps from the jacket im a broke college kid, i go where stuff is the absoloute cheapest- found some ripstop nylon for $1 a yard on sale at walmart...got teh brainy idea of mabye trying out some of the online backpack patterns to make for a few friends who have expressed intrest in starting some backpacking...hmmm later, -nate” 1:18:57 AM 12/02/02 “I'd order a Campmor fleece instead.. about the same price, probably more durable, and you'll look more like a hiker rather than a 14 year old girl who chews bubble gum and hangs out at the mall all day." Santartex 09:33:44 PM 12/01/02 LMAO!” 6:17:18 AM 12/02/02 “Old Navy stuff is excellent..can't beat the price...and it wears forever! Hey what is wrong with looking like a 14 yr old?” 6:25:09 AM 12/02/02 “Gemini, Go for the Old Navy fleece. If'n ya don't wind up lookin' like a fourteen yr old, mebbe you'll wind up lookin like Morgan! Woohoooo!” 6:29:00 AM 12/02/02 “ihhh, Morgan is fake and ugly. (sorry!!!). anyway, it doesnt hurt looking like a 14 y old. Sh... looking younger for $16, where do you get that besides at old navy, huh?” 7:19:08 AM 12/02/02 “Old Navy fleece is nice for the price and works fine as an insulation layer. However, ON in windy conditions are useless and would recommend investing in a high quality windproof shell. It surprised me the difference between ON's fleece and several other brands.” 7:47:49 AM 12/02/02 “Buy the best stuff you can find and afford....if that's Old Navy fleece, go for it! I have had both Campmor fleece and Old navy fleece wear out on me. (Surprise, they both suck ;) ) Elbows, within a year on both. REI polartech hangs in much better.” 7:49:30 AM 12/02/02 “I finally picked myself up a windstopper fleece at REI last weekend. Very warm and toasty!” 8:24:27 AM 12/02/02 NOT! “Morgan may be many things, but ugly ain't one of 'em! Fake, maybe, but who's to say, if we all had the money to get things "rebuilt", that we wouldn't all ilke to have some, um, "parts" made New & Improved! (knees come to mind!) She could sure share my tent anytime! 'Sides, nylon is a man-made material, and we all love that!” 8:29:01 AM 12/02/02 “i HATE Old Navy!! the music is always blasting, the lights are too bright, there are too many teenagers in the stores. LOL! i'm old. also, nothing there ever fits me, for some reason...everything's cut totally wrong. aahhh, just had to get that out! i'm all over some less-expensive stuff, though, in general! the Gap rocks.” 8:37:31 AM 12/02/02 “I would love to see what Morgan looks like with out all of her accoutrement. I bet no one would recognize her.” 9:20:53 AM 12/02/02 “I really liked my ON fleece pants... for hanging around watching TV but not as trail gear. Shouldn't you at least get elastic cuffs if you want to stay warm?” 9:35:21 AM 12/02/02 “okay, I got me a couple. Will use them as base layer. I do have a windstopper, I think I have even 2 windstoppers, so I should be fine. The thinner fleece from ON is thin enough to use it as a base layer. the others I bougth are still okay for a base layer as long as I have the windstopper material on top. (I think). I bought the northplace fleece vest a couple of weeks ago, well, it looks good, fits good, but the fleece is pretty thin too, paid $70 for that thing. I have not tried it out yet, but it better be worth the money!!! I'll guess we'll see! Morgan: I am not even going there again! If you can afford it, hey go for it, but please dont' choose michael jackson's plastic surgeon. (oops, just couldn't shut up)” 9:41:06 AM 12/02/02 I like 14 year olds... “"hey little girl...wanna come up and see my gear collection???" ...it always works.” 11:08:31 AM 12/03/02 “And to add to that... stikmon upon seeing the commercial (you'll like this, Tilt): "Morgan Fairchild has sure aged well." lol” 12:37:05 PM 12/03/02
