McDonalds BeefView MessagesMcDonald's Beef “Subject: Mc Donald's Beef YIKES MAD COW! The original message is from the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. American cattle producers are very passionate about this. McDonald's claims that there is not enough beef in the USA to support their restaurants. Well, we know that is not so. Our opinion is they are looking to save money at our expense. The sad thing of it is that the people of the USA are the ones who made McDonald's successful in the first place, but we are not good enough to provide beef. We personally are no longer eating at McDonalds, which I am sure does not make an impact, but if we pass this around maybe there will be an impact felt. Please pass it on Just to add a note, all Americans that sell cows at a livestock auction barn had to sign a paper stating that we do NOT EVER feed our cows any part of another cow. South Americans are not required to do this as of yet. McDonald's has announced that they are going to start importing much of their beef from South America. The problem is that South Americans aren't under the same regulations as American beef producers, and the regulations they have are loosely controlled. They can spray numerous pesticides on their pastures that have been banned here at home because of residues found in the beef. They can also use various hormones and growth regulators that we can't. The American public needs to be aware of this problem and that they may be putting themselves at risk from now on by eating at good old McDonald's. American ranchers raise the highest quality beef in the world and this is what Americans deserve to eat. Not beef from countries where quality is loosely controlled. Therefore, I am proposing a boycott of McDonald's until they see the light. I'm sorry but everything is not always about the bottom line, and when it comes to jeopardizing my family's health, that is where I draw the line. I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it ... THREE HUNDRED MILLION people!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you? Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. David W. Forrest, Ph.D., PAS, Dipl. I wonder which cows the others are using. It's not a good idea to make a habit out of fast food anyway. A good book to read is called Diet for a New America by John Robbins. It explains why these companies do what they do.” 6:56:30 PM 12/02/02 “O gawd what a bunch of BS.The cowboys are crying. What the hell are they crying about not being allowed to use certain chemicals, hormones etc? They use bovine growth hormone like f'ing crazy and sued clean milk producers who labeled their milk had no bgh.The american beef might not be as dirty as south american but it is filthy and polluted with so much crap it'll make yer stomach turn.Beef is a killer product-literally...From what cowboys feed em, to spraying them, hormones and then the handling of the beef from the slauterhouse to the supermarket-its super gross...Anyway,i quit eating beef 10 yrs ago cuz of all the crap it contains. Sorry,if u want my business make a clean, honest product and dont give lame sob stories. As for McCrap or any burger chain, since when are their hamburgers made from beef?Have u ever looked at their 'beef' patties? It looks like a sponge. How people can eat that is beyond me.How their system doesnt throw it up immeadiately is incredible too. There was a cowboy a few years ago who spilled the beans on the dirty secrets of the beef industry here.I cant remember his book but the guy went vegetarian and he's now hated. One book that exposes the beef industry is 'Beyond Beef'.It exposes very scary stuff that cowboys dont want u to know but should.” 8:45:29 PM 12/02/02 Hoax “This is pretty old one. It must be making the rounds again.” 10:40:19 PM 12/02/02 “Well actually McD's buys a huge amount of Argentinian beef. It'd beent that way since the early 80's BTW Among some gourmets Argentinian beef is considered some of the very best in the world.” 10:47:23 PM 12/02/02 “According to Snopes there is some truth to this (but the letter doesn't give the full picture): http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/boycotts/mcdbeef.htm " target="_blank"> Wears the beef!?/ Highlight: What the petitions don't mention is that grass-fed cattle (such as the sort McDonald's is purchasing from Australia and New Zealand) don't have to be given the large amounts of antibiotics that typically grain-fed American cattle are dosed with. (Cows take much longer to fatten on a grass diet than a grain diet, so American cattle are primarily fed grain -- mostly corn -- to get them up to market weight more quickly. However, as cows are ruminants whose natural diet is grass, a grain diet severely taxes their digestive systems, requiring they be given a variety of antibiotics to fight off bacterial infections.)” 10:57:49 PM 12/02/02 “pedxing thats gross...why bother eating such a friggin disgusting blob of farmer experimentation?” 11:12:55 PM 12/02/02 “Whoops! Here it is corrected: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/boycotts/mcdbeef.htm" target="_blank"> http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/boycotts/mcdbeef.htm” 11:16:07 PM 12/02/02 “You've got a point there davex.” 11:19:05 PM 12/02/02 “I kicked the milk habbit 2 yrs ago-it was hard as fcck to do-I mean what else are ya wash down chocalate chip cookies with?Anyway,Ive recently been made aware of lower pricing on soy milk. That stuff tastes great too.” 11:23:26 PM 12/02/02 “this is a great thread. good posts. richb-thanks for the book tip. I'll check that one out.” 3:13:01 PM 12/03/02 “I want to caution anyone who starts to dig into what goes into food production. VERY scary things happen to all processed food, if you still want to look better make sure you have a good organic market nearby, and ween yourself from mass produced candy and fast food now” 3:25:30 PM 12/03/02 “I know the beef I had in Mexico about 15 years ago was the best I ever ate. Funny, snopes had nothing on the rumor about Ostrich meat in McDonald's hamburgers that circulated long ago but it did have a bit on the toilet seat in the dishwasher story that made its way through here.” 3:29:34 PM 12/03/02 “Buy Argentine beef. That way, their economy grows, and someone will prolly build an REI. Then, they'll be better able to outfit me when I HIKE PATAGONIA!” 3:36:37 PM 12/03/02 “Ldhiker - I have the note ready to go to 30 people. I plan to include 30 stamps to each of them so that they can each send out to 30 others. So, 30 +(30 x 30) = 930. And 930 x $0.37 = $344.10. Please help me by sending $344.10 for my postage costs and I'll get these in the mail right away. BTW, do you need any bridges?” 3:37:24 PM 12/03/02 “Say what you want about the food but it is generally true that if two states have McDonalds' franchises, they do not wage war against one another. I'll bet Bolivia is getting real nervous now.” 3:48:27 PM 12/03/02 “McDonald's to give free samples of Chicken Selects By Bruce Horovitz USA TODAY McDonald's, the kingpin of all things beef, today announces plans to hand out millions of free samples from what has quickly evolved into its fastest-growing food line: chicken. The giveaway: Chicken Selects, its profitable chicken strips that fetch about $4.39 for a five-piece order. McDonald's expects to hand out more than 4 million Thursday through Sunday (11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ). The beef giant sees the writing on the walls of the chicken coop. Some 60% of the chicken sold by the restaurant industry in the USA is now sold by fast-food restaurants. Retail sales of all chicken sold domestically will rocket from $31.5 billion in 1995 to $50.4 billion this year, the National Chicken Council projects. The typical American will consume 87.5 pounds of chicken this year, compared with 78 pounds in 2000. From November 2003 to November 2004, sales of chicken strips at fast-food facilities rose 12.5%. [snip]” 2:40:59 PM 2/16/05 “McDonalds beef, isn't that an oxymoron?” 2:42:34 PM 2/16/05 “I had those chicken selects the other day. Tastes like a real piece of chicken.” 2:45:45 PM 2/16/05 “Buh-KAW!” 2:47:49 PM 2/16/05 “Deore-- Maybe you need to go and watch Supersize me....” 2:54:43 PM 2/16/05 “I bet the chickens are overjoyed!!!!” 3:37:43 PM 2/16/05 “I can't believe people still eat there anyway. Why get a big mac when you can have the whopper. The lack of vegetarian items is insulting as well. Enough restaraunts now cater to my diet I can tell McDonalds to shove off.” 4:03:34 PM 2/16/05 “I havent eaten McDonalds in about 10 years and don't ever plan to again. I agree with silentJ about the lack of vegetarian items and what they do offer is salad. who wants to eat an over priced not fresh salad from McDonalds? not me. ~sorry for the rant.” 4:36:21 PM 2/16/05 “I just ate there once in the past 6 months. I'm just sayinf I had the chicken select tender thing and it tasted like chicken. My preference is the McNugget though... which doesn't taste like chicken.” 4:47:48 PM 2/16/05 “For a few more bucks you can go to a diner or burger joint and get a real juicy tasty hamburger w/fries. I don't know why anyone would buy fast food hamburgers. When I just got my dog and did car trips, I would order the American meal w/burger, small fries and a drink. I would give the burger to my dog and put the fries between the bread to make one of my famous potato sandwiches. The bad part, my dog did not want to eat the hamburger. When a dog turns down a hamburger, there is something wrong with it and that is scary. I had to share my fries with her.” 2:07:37 AM 2/17/05 “"I don't know why anyone would buy fast food hamburgers." Conveinience.” 7:02:10 AM 2/17/05 “I love the subway commercial about the chicken selects! Talks about how they have something like 33 grams of saturated fat in a serving. YUM. (sarcasm) I'm not sure I'd want them even if they're free.” 7:09:10 AM 2/17/05 “But fat tastes sooooooooo good Sass! :D” 7:11:11 AM 2/17/05 “Yeah it does. I guess I'd rather go out for some really yummy fish and chips at the pub, or real fried chicken if I'm going to eat serious fat.” 7:15:47 AM 2/17/05 “Fried Catfish... it's my poison. :D That and the Country Fried Steak breakfast at the Cracker Barrel. *drools*” 7:20:01 AM 2/17/05 “OMG, we have the best place for catfish fingers nearby! I love them!!!! My mom used to make chicken fried steak when I was a kid, good stuff. I don't think I've had it since then.” 7:21:59 AM 2/17/05 “I was shocked to find out one of the best COuntry Fried Steaks I've ever had was from Chilis. Smothered in white gravey... mashed potatoes... and an ear of corn. mmmmmmm... Good thing about Alabama/Georgia. Lots of great little catfish joints :)” 7:24:19 AM 2/17/05 “yeah but poor you, can't find a pastie anywhere!” 7:30:37 AM 2/17/05 “Um... what... do you mean... um... by... pastie?” 8:00:10 AM 2/17/05 “The lack of vegetarian items is insulting as well. Enough restaraunts now cater to my diet I can tell McDonalds to shove off.” Silent J “I havent eaten McDonalds in about 10 years and don't ever plan to again. If ya'all got a couple minutes please read this http://aquacorps.com/environmentalnews.htm#20 Peace Out, Capt.Jim” 8:24:36 AM 2/17/05 “Sass! You are terrible. Leaving our Southern friend hanging like that. A pastie is a meat and potato pie eaten by Scandinavian immigrants to the UP of Michigan when they went mining or logging. It was the PB&J of its time and place. I've heard that one pastie in each hand helped many Finns keep their balance off the ski jump. Unfortunately, my fiance from Wisconsin keeps wanting to put cheese on them things. No. No. No. Pasties don't come with cheese, silly Packer fans.” 8:40:23 AM 2/17/05 ““yeah but poor you, can't find a pastie anywhere!” I placed a huge order with Pasties.com around holloween and got my brothers and dad and myself a bunch of pasties for christmas. They were the best!” 8:43:23 AM 2/17/05 Beef with McDonalds “I felt ripped-off at Cherokee, NC, McDonalds. Went there the other evening for a hamburger. Service was slow. My knees lock-up on me when standing for more than a moment or two in the same place. They need more help for the business. The place was a mess. Table tops needed cleaning and the floors needed someone with a good broom. I made a mistake when I went there for hot cakes this morning. The woman took my order wrong, but she did correct it. But the charge was higher than the posted price on the wall. Since it is programmed-in, it probably means that the price is going up. And she never did give me a glass/cup for some water. I don't plan to return there again. last edited: 6/02/06 1:44:04 PM” 1:42:21 PM 6/02/06 “maybe you should get a job, ya bum. They need your help not your #&%!$ing ;)” 1:43:53 PM 6/02/06 “I would only work there if they cut me in on the bonus from the casino.” 1:45:44 PM 6/02/06 “i don't like that mcd's either..they pour tons of salt on the fries..i hit that place on my way out and regret it every time. the bathrooms are a wreck..haven't seen a mop in "many moons"” 3:40:02 PM 6/02/06 “Some McD's are worse than others. There is one on the Pa. Turnpike near Valley Forge that burns the buns and puts the Egg McMuffins together with the sausage and egg half off the buns. Try eating that thing while driving!” 3:54:04 PM 6/02/06 “I am not brave enough to go to any of Ronalds holes.” 4:11:20 PM 6/02/06 “[P]erhaps the most alarming ingredient in a Chicken McNugget is tertiary butylhydroquinone, or TBHQ, an antioxidant derived from petroleum that is either sprayed directly on the nugget or the inside of the box it comes in to "help preserve freshness." According to A Consumer's Dictionary of Food Additives, TBHQ is a form of butane (i.e. lighter fluid) the FDA allows processors to use sparingly in our food: It can comprise no more than 0.02 percent of the oil in a nugget. Which is probably just as well, considering that ingesting a single gram of TBHQ can cause "nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, delirium, a sense of suffocation, and collapse." Ingesting five grams of TBHQ can kill.” http://www.alnyethelawyerguy.com/al_nye_the_lawyer_guy/2007/03/so_what_really_.html” 11:12:02 AM 3/23/07 “ ”11:12:59 AM 3/23/07 “I loves me some tertiary butylhydroquinone” 11:13:32 AM 3/23/07 “So that's why my belches spontaneously combust after I eat those things” 11:16:57 AM 3/23/07 “Who's got beef?” 11:26:46 AM 3/23/07
