I AM SOOOOOO THERE!” 6:31:25 AM 10/28/03 “How does Brunton Sherpa compare with the other Sherpas? Can he carry more or less? How many times has he summited Everest?” 6:32:48 AM 10/28/03 “It dosen't beat the TerraQuest.” 6:43:29 AM 10/28/03 “Yeah, if I recall, the TerraQuest was only $39 and the batteries lasted forever!” 7:13:45 AM 10/28/03 “What a neat toy. To bad it's so heavy.” 8:42:15 AM 10/28/03 Tara, Jamie “I hate you both.” 10:39:54 PM 10/28/03 “i ate lima beans yesterday and they made my poop green......” 10:49:39 PM 10/28/03 “I have the Brunton Sherpa.... Its a pretty neat little gadget but you can't wear it too close to your body....” 5:29:42 AM 10/29/03 “yeah adventurist, especially with a couple hot dudes like us.” 6:43:16 AM 10/29/03 At Campmor “For those of you who've been waiting, Campmor has put the Thermarest LE Full -Length Mattress on sale, for $73.97. They also have the Guidelite 3/4 for $43.97, also a great deal.” 4:41:29 PM 12/02/03 “Holy crap! 2 and 1/2 POUNDS for that thing! Will you carry one for me? ;) I have the Guidelite 3/4 and it's a nice pad too but much lighter.” 7:30:20 PM 12/02/03 “i have the 3/4 guidelight, during winter time I just carry a second thermarest ridge rest foam pad. they're light and will do as a second pad.” 7:48:52 PM 12/02/03 “Nothing matches the LE. All bow down its high royal cushiness.” 7:50:47 PM 12/02/03 “It's obvious you've yet to try the Big Agnes REM pad. Poor you. ;) Pure BLISS.” 9:18:32 PM 12/02/03 “All Hail the LE Thank you sir for your Royal Cushiness A l l l l l H a i l l l l l l.....” 9:38:25 PM 12/02/03 1:01:14 PM 12/03/03 “I have indeed tried the REM air core. It is nice.” 2:07:12 PM 12/03/03 Montbell UL Thermawrap Jacket “http://www.modernmountainman.com/catalog.php?type=product&id=106265 $98 bucks... free shipping. regular price = $140. last edited: 3/27/07 11:55:58 AM” 11:54:54 AM 3/27/07 “I'm right in between M and L. Jimmy san, you got one? How do the sizes run? Are they cut for a vest under?” 12:25:39 PM 3/27/07 “What size is your Coal SS? I'm wondering how it will compare to my Coal Size Med. How warm is this thing?” 1:24:07 PM 3/27/07 “M” 1:24:37 PM 3/27/07 “Did this thing have hand pockets?” 1:25:17 PM 3/27/07 “Yes on the pockets... Jim copied off of me when I bought a simular product from Montbell. Paired with a rain jacket, mine kept me warm at an outside temp of 20 degrees.” 2:42:01 PM 3/27/07 “haha Well, I have the down inner jacket, not the poly jacket. The Thermawrap jacket is an outstanding product and to prove it I ordered one myself. I would wear it as a 3rd layer. base layer=1 (patigonia capilene) lightweight insulation layer=2 (patigonia strech top) insulation layer=3 (Montbell Down Inner Jacket) windproof/waterproof breathable=4 (Driducks Jacket) i would say the jackets are a tad snug and a L fits me well. if i wanted a bulky layer under it (say a vest) then i would probably get an XL. since shipping is free why not buy both and return the one that doesn't fit like you want? you may have to pay return shipping on the 2nd but the jacket is very light and this won't cost much. last edited: 3/27/07 4:31:23 PM” 4:30:36 PM 3/27/07 “Jimmy and WK - just curious, what shelters do you use? I have a heavy as everything Kelty Gunnison 2 that I use on basecamps and kids trips. I have a tarpt tent that's homemade that I use on actual trips with mileage. What I'm considering is a Eureka Spitfire UL for trips when it's really cold or buggy. I froogled the Spitfire UL and one can be had for $125. I'm not about to buy one now. I'll probably wait until the next appropriate trip shows up and deal with it then. last edited: 3/27/07 4:46:35 PM” 4:45:14 PM 3/27/07 “tarp if it's going to rain, otherwise just cowboy camp on a silnylon groundcloth.” 4:52:16 PM 3/27/07 “Condensation doesn't botter you?” 4:53:26 PM 3/27/07 “nope.” 4:59:34 PM 3/27/07 “He lied again...I ordered it first. John. I am currently using a 6 moons designs Lunar Solo: http://www.sixmoondesigns.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=36 Pricey, but well worth it. I have had it out in everything but an earthquake and have had no problems. I am looking at this now: http://www.sixmoondesigns.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=48 You can raise and lower the height of this depending on the weather. Expecting good weather, raise it up to maximize air flow. Bad weather coming, lower to seal out the rain.” 5:00:01 PM 3/27/07 sleeping setup “ ![]() notice the stovestomper special blue water wing pillow... most significant addition to the setup in a long time!” 5:01:16 PM 3/27/07 wounded knee “ohhhh, i LIKE that Wild Oasis tarp very much. of course at 14 oz it's STILL over 2x as heavy as my Stealth 0 LITE tarp... oh well, practice and keep trying my padawan learner” 5:11:25 PM 3/27/07 “Dayhiker, keep in mind that Jimmy san doesn't have the bugs and snakes we have down here. ;-) DDX, I checked my Coal jacket at home and I was incorrect, it is a Large. last edited: 3/27/07 5:45:37 PM” 5:43:16 PM 3/27/07 “Jimmy san, I think I sent Nigal a SpongeBob water wing pillow. I'm sure he hides it if he uses it in camp. ;-) I'm torn, I don't NEED this jacket. My Coal is only a couple of oz heavyer. last edited: 3/27/07 6:02:18 PM” 5:54:39 PM 3/27/07 “Now the DOWN version at $112 sure is tempting! http://www.modernmountainman.com/catalog.php?type=product&id=107118” 6:30:43 PM 3/27/07 Nice find “800 fill at 6.7oz! At that price, it's hard to pass up!” 8:17:49 PM 3/27/07 “that's the one i have and if you buy it you will NOT be sorry... it's sweet, but it's a fragile piece of gear... needs to be treated with a gentle touch (kept away from sparks, etc). also it does lose a feather now and then because the shell is so light.” 9:40:50 PM 3/27/07 “...oh, and i MUST find spongebob water wings now. summer is coming and walmart will have all that good stuff. on the other hand that pillow has lasted me two seasons and i want to see how long it will go before it's totally corrupt.” 9:46:46 PM 3/27/07 “I have the 6 Moon Europa and really like it. Big enough for two, light enough for one.” 9:51:46 PM 3/27/07 “Dayhiker, I was going to get the Spitfire UL, but after spending a weekend in the Sierra Designs Lightyear, I reconsidered. They are both short. I've decided to carry the extra 7 ounces and went with the original Spitfire for only $89. It's just a little bit larger, but it makes all the difference to me. See what you can rent or borrow first before you put your money down.” 11:24:09 PM 3/27/07 “Pamela - I saw your post about that which is what got me reading into both of them. Strangely, they're both listed as roughly the same length. The vestibule is actually listed as larger in the UL, but when you look at the diagram it hardly seems possible. I was leaning towards the regular until I saw the UL for as low as $125. It'll likely be late summer before I make a decision. Engineers are cheap, or at least this one is. I've yet to spend over $150 on a pack, $110 on a tent, and my only "extravagant" purchase is my BA Zirkel I got on clearance for around $200. It's hard to believe my tarptent is about 7 years old now. I'm mainly looking for something like between my tarptent and my chateau Kelty. Jimmy, do you sleep under that thing in the rain. It seems like the slightest breeze would get you wet. I guess you just lower the height. Brian, nice sixmoons. I think I could actually build something like that myself for about $50. If I added my billing time to it, it would be a thousand dollar tent, but it sure would be fun to make.” 7:00:46 AM 3/28/07
