“My favorite part of TT in 2002 was the buildup to MontanaPalooza 2002, unfortunately for me, and probably fortunately for those who went, I didn't get to do the hike.

Still, it was cool to actually meet the folks that did go.”

Meeting TTers on the Delaware Water Gap trip and sitting around the non-campfire talking, joking, laughing, and sharing.

Sarabelle's posts about the skeery woof bare (wish Gojo would come back and bring her with him).

I'm not sure about the strangers part TD. Seems like I know people pretty well, and when I meet them they are pretty much the same people. We seem to reveal an awful lot of our personalities online.

Oh, and the great wars between the sites, Web War I and Web War II.

I enjoy reading Snow Nymphs trip reports and looking at her photos, but I get jealous because her backyard is so much nicer than mine.

I enjoy joking with people and feeling free enough with them to do it. I enjoy the jokes and good wishes I get in return.

During my convalescence, I enjoyed taking virtual trips via everybody's trip reports. I would rather have been out there myself, but it was fun to read about since I could not be.”

“The Michigan trip in October was a Major highlight for me on TT. Met loads of nice fun people and got to hike with several folks I'd met from other trips. The whole trip was a real honor!!

Hiking the Southern half of the AT through the Smoky Mountains in September with Sirpete was also a trip to remember.

“How could I forget Saturday night at the fights. That was a classic NS.”

“First and foremost for me was buckling in and deciding to meet some TT'ers. I first met pedxing and LyndyS at Campmor, and they were both so cool that I decided to start doing some TT hikes. It's been fantastic and the friends that I have made are all top notch. I feel very, very fortunate to have met some outstanding individuals who share my interests and I have a blast hiking with.

As for threads, too many to list. Dare I say the Ban Prowler thread was.. interesting. But the one thread that has cracked me up the most was the World's Funniest Joke? thread. Marvin Garden's jokes just had me dying of laughter. I guess I have a true appreciation for the absurd.”

“I nearly forgot to mention Goretex's NASA surplus rocket engine that he uses for a stove. When he fires thing that up, contrails high in the sky suddenly change course. Stalkers cry for their mommy, and tainted water becomes pure. Needles jump on seismographs hundreds of miles away, and when he finally shuts the damn thing down you can hear the moles breathe a sigh of relief. It is a thing to behold. Flame shoots a hundred feet into the air. The sound is deafening. It boils water from snow in 4.5 seconds. It takes him two and a half hours to prime the thing and 4.5 seconds to cook. If it did not have a water cooling system, the stove itself would vaporize. You all have to go hiking with Goretex sometime just to see this amazing engine at work. It uses liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen for fuel. Just don't smoke within 100 feet of that stove.”

What is memorable though is all the cool TT people I met this year. Of the 40 or so I met, there isn't ONE that I did not enjoy hiking with. Well.... maybe that big dumb a$$ from Cleveland... j/k

“This was my first full year as the "Packrat" and TT has become a really cool part of my life. I've gained about 20 new friends so far this year and we haven't even gotten to TC2 yet. I enjoyed both of the Sipsey trips, Savage Gulf, Fiery Gizzard, and a couple of others with the WalkinDude. I'm looking forward to a great 2003 to meet more of y'all and going to more places I've never been.”
