Oink!
Buddur has taken to lying widthwise across my bed while I'm asleep at night, leaving me little room for my legs but to BOOT him. He thinks he's cool, but he'll get his!

My dog has a really cute habit of pooting whenever she sits down.

It's adorable (and stinky).

Belle does exactly the same thing. I lay my legs over her while lying on my back, and curl-up while lying on my side. All the while, Gizmo is under the covers either curled-up beside me or on top of me...

Sometimes Cooter and Chalupa will sleep over. Man, talk about a puppy pile...

The three little ones compete for prime spots - usually against my chest or on the pillow (my head).

I've had as many as five at once, but Bruh Weeny was recently struck and killed by a car.

Gosh, Gojo, that's so sad. I hate to hear things like that.

My cats lay on top of the covers, one on either side of me. I can't roll over some nights, they've got me pinned down!

My fish don't bother me when I sleep. Seeing that they're confined to their aquarium, I guess that's not too surprising.

BTW, as soon as I move to Maine (I know.. big hat, no cattle), I'm getting a dog.

lipstick hiker here
My 2lb 4oz chihuahua farts, but so do I, and it's worse for her, because I do it while she's under the bed covers with me.

It's Jst The Bottom Of A Sleeping Bag
When I made Buddur his cold-weather "throw blanket" 3 years ago, I just cut the top off a sleeping bag and used that, and have had the bottom of the bag since. In camp, the throw keeps Buddur warm when he's under it, but usually when I awake at night, he's not covered anymore and shivering. I've always toyed with the idea of making a throw blanket that straps to him so when he gets up and re-situates himself at night the blanket won't come off him.

Well, having never done anything with the bottom of that sleeping bag, this weekend I stuck it on Buddur's back and darned if the thing didn't fit like a glove. All I did was cut a hole in the back (foot of the bag) for his tail, and sew an elastic band on the front to hold it on and the thing works. I got Buddur to run around the house, sit, laydown, roll over, etc. and the coat stays on him. I don't plan on him wearing it all the time incamp, but now maybe I won't have to get somewhat out of my sleeping bag everytime I awake to put his cover over him.

And about the boots, my parents got him a set, but imo, they suck. They don't stay on, and there's no traction and he'd slide all over the snow when wearing them. We sure did get quite a laugh at his expense when he first tried them on, but in all practicality, they just don't work (in theory maybe, but not in real life).

Buddur,

How does the pad straped to his back ride? Does it stay in place OK? Does he hate it being there?

The blanky made from the sleeping bag is a great idea.

I showed Khatru the pictures...
asking him if he wanted something like that....when he stopped laughing, and could catch his breath...he said "no way".

seriously though...its nice that you take the time to consider your companions comfort and safety. Your a good monster...mr frankenbudder.

We'll Probably Still Spoon During The Night
Garfum, if you mean the Z-Rest pad in the one pic, it is strapped to his saddlebag pack and stays inplace rather well. It's his winter groundpad because, believe it or not, even dogs need insulation from the frozen ground.

And StikMonster, a Husky certainly would laugh at the thought of needing something other than it's God-given furcoat to keep it warm. I once thought Buddur's long Golden Retriever coat would keep him nice and warm while camping in the winter, but I was wrong...the nights can get rather frigid the farther North you go.
