Depends if you want to cook or not.
Please keep in mind I don't consider boiling water cooking.

I used to do a lot of hamburger helper with dehydrated beef. (or tuna helper with the foil pouch tunu) Good stuff although unhealthy as all get out. Mac and cheese ect.

yes, but I dont want to read about it. Id rather hear about what other people have tried and taken. the pros and the cons....

Dehydrate ground beef, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers.

When cooking toss it all in a pot with just a little more water than necessary to rehydrate and a pack of dry taco (or fajita) seasoning.

try it at home first.
Food experiments that go wrong can bugger a trip.

Maple, try some of those inertia meals. They're only $3.25 a piece, hard to do your own meals that cheap. They're vegetarian, but you could add some dried meat if you want. They're quite tasty.

I made some chili mac that worked out real good. I just browned about a pound of hamburger in a skillet with an onion, then added a can of Mexican-style stewed tomatoes, and spiced it up with some chili powder and garlic powder. Then I boiled two cups of elbow macaroni, and when it was al dente, I drained it and added it to the hamburger mixture. Cooked it a little while longer (maybe 5 min) and put it in the dehydrator. Worked out great!

Another tip I've read here is when you're cooking pasta for dehydrating/rehydrating, you shouldn't cook it until it's really soft.

Maple, I did a package of Zatarain's Dirty Rice once (someone here said it dehydrated/rehydrated well). It was yummy!

I'm not a big fan of cleaning up any pots while on the trail, so I generally stick to the boil water meals.

Can of chicken, or foil pouch, plus dry gravy mix, plus bisquick dumplings. Yum.
