“Well, the fifth season of the Sopranos is shaping up nicely, IMO. The plot lines have not worn thin. Just the opposite: they are fresh and still open for a lot of good things to come. The shole thing with Feech going back to jail was really nicely done. I don't think anyone didn't think that some blood would be spilled there. The family thing with Carmella and AJ was really done well. lmao when the kid was Krazy Glued to the floor. And some of the guest stars were pretty surprising. I knew Frankie Valli got a part as one of Little Carmine's crew. But, I didn't expect to see Lawrence Taylor and David Lee Roth sitting at the poler table. Producer Bernie Brillstein was one of the players too...”

“Good episode, and the closing was fully up to Sopranos standards. Laughed my ass off again.

It wasn't until Feech was on his way home in the prison bus that it dawned on me that Tony had set him up. And I cracked up when Silvio told Tony that Christopher had said the plan was brilliant. Well glued episode.

AJ's college counselor is making a play for Carmella. This should be fun!”

“I agree, Geo. But, as soon as that parole dude came to the door, I said, 'Yeah, that was well done!' He's not going to kill him, but send him back to the joint. Creative touch, rather than just another mob hit...”

“I didn't connect during the parole officer scene, although the TV and the garage should have given it away. At first I thought Christopher was going to whack the dude, but obviously Tony has respect for the old school.”

“I think EVERYONE thought that when Chris and the other guy showed up. That's part of what made it great. The little twist that no one expects...”

“I should clarify that. I thought that Chris and the other guy were setting him up for a kill (if it didn't happen on the spot) with the truck lure...”

“It presumes that Tony figured Feech would rise to the bait, which he did beautifully. When it was obvious they weren't going to whack him, I wondered what the hook was. Figured Feech would overstep his bounds one more time and then Tony would whack him for sure.

Of course, in a film script, it is possible to achieve these things and have them work out right.

The bigger issue is going to be the war in the NY mob. Classic scene with the hit man stalking the naked woman. Some of these little plots are funny when they should be horrifying. I kept thinking he would tell her to "squeal like a pig!"”

“The foreshadowing was in the statement he made about learning from Richie Apprile (sp). Then he said something about nipping it in the bud...”

“Well, that statement indicated he was going to put a stop to Feech's games, but I thought in the more traditional mob sense of the word. What I think he meant was that Richie Aprile got so far out of hand because Tony didn't want to do something to the brother of his ally, Jackie.

And he didn't want to do something to Feech either. I didn't see that statement as foretelling anything except that he was stopping Feech. A hit seemed like the way it would go down.

Now that the Feech problem is out of the way (is it, or will Feech snitch out on Tony?), attention turns to the war between Johnny Sack and little Carmine. Carmine's allies are urging him to take out Johnny Sack, and I doubt Johnny Sack want's Tony as an ally in that fight, or that Tony wants to get involved. Tony sees the war as an opportunity for his family.

Just don't laugh at his jokes too loud. That, by the way, was also a great touch. Carmella set it up, and the card game scene was classic. Notice that everybody was laughing but Feech?

And what the hell's LT doing playing poker with the mob while somebody makes a racial slur? WTF was that all about?”

“I didn't notice Feech at first not laughing. Maple said she saw it. SHe's always good at picking stuff out of the background. I didn't catch that until they flashed back to it...”

“I noticed it right away. Feech had just told a joke and gotten mild laughter. Tony's joke wasn't quite that good, and the guys were cracking up. Feech looked like he was pissed at Tony and the guys.”

“I thought Christopher was gonna buy the farm last night. The ending scene cracked my up, as it usually does.”

“He was blowing a gasket on the 'French Moron' thread this morning. Must of had to work this afternoon.”

“The trick is to take a work break every now and again.”

“Left work early to take Twignut to Kennedy International this afternoon. She's currently a little more than halfway across the pond. I will feel better after she lands in Amsterdam...”

I understood were that guy was coming from with Carmella. Cold when she wasn't getting what she wanted. Hot after she 'won'. Time to move on. That nasty little threat she threw him at the end was a nice scorned woman touch.

I didn't understand that either about Tony2 beating the guy up.”

“Maybe too much liquor and losing at cards combined with sleep deprivation?”

“I thought he was pissed about the Korean guy not helping out, but yes, booze, cards, no sleep.

He began screwing things up when he found that bag of money and dope. Pissing away the money on cards didn't help.”

“That was probably the impetus, Geo. I think that if he hadn't been so wound up about pissing the money away and had been thinking rationally, he probably wouldn't have overreacted like that...”

“Also, at the bottom line, he is an ex-mobster who probably is impulsive, given to irrational outbursts that he can't control, particularly in the state he was in.

Compare to Christopher, Tony S., Paulie ... the pattern is there. Only Silvio does not seem to have burst of irrationality.”

“Yea, looks like he's headed back into the 'club' and away from the straight life.”

“Yes, Geo. Except the great (and hilarious) tirade he went on in the big poker game when he went off on Matthew Bevelaqua a few seasons ago...

Stovie, I think the foreshadowing is defiinitely looking that way...”

“Tree, that scene had faded from memory, but yes, that was the exception. Don't bug Sil when he's playing poker. They played off on that in one of this season's games.”

“Right, they did. I thought that was one of Steve Van Zandt's greatest moments. I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce Springsteen got a laugh seeing his buddy and old time band memeber perform an out of character scene like that too...”

“Steve is a hoot no matter what incarnation he's in at the moment.”

“He sure is. I've been a big fan of his for many years. The guy is super, multi-talented...”

“Those that say that 'The Sopranos' series had run its course should have to reckon with the this past Sunday's absolutely spectacular, edge of the seat, nail-biter of a show. This was one of the finest hours that the show has ever produced, IMO. So many loose ends were tied together in this one. And the beauty of it was that it opened the door to what may amount to quite a sixth season.

The way they handled the murder that the FBI confronted Adrianna on was superb and ultimately brought about her demise. The scene when she told Christopher was a shining moment for Michael Imperioli. Kudos for the acting job. I was just looking at the camera fixed on his face as she was telling him the sordid details and his expressions told the whole story of inner angst, turmoil and anger. Also an interestong scene: when Chris was looking at that family getting back into that crappy car with the kids and looking at his shiny new Hummer, he seemed to see that for himself in the future and said, "uh-uh."

The reconciliation was handled really nicely. One must really wonder, "is he going to change?"

The whole sixth season will be the war between the families due to the can of worms that Tony B. opened up. That's obvious.

Humorous moments:

When Tony's girl friend was in the burn unit and his cell phone rings. She says 'I'm going to kill myself' and Tony responds by saying, "I have to take this call."

And my favorite line of the night!

Tony: You're late! Where the hell were you?

Christopher: TRaffic. The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive. ( as Little Steven sits there stoically looking into space)

BRUUUUUUUCEE!!!!”

This was a little reminder to us that even the 'nice' one is a killer.

“Stovie, I think everyone under the sun was expecting the hit. The beauty part of the way it was done was that they added a little twist (Chris's OD and Sylvio taking her for the 'ride'. When you have something that is almost a 'given'', it's hard to make it suspenseful. Gotta give them kudos for creativity in the way it was constructed.”

“That's what they are saying for waiting time between seasons. IMO, the past two episodes were really well done. Good finale last night. I really did not expect the FBI to get involved like that to end it off. Good break for Tony. I had thought about Chrissie getting pursued by Johnny Sack's guys, but I really couldn't fathom that they would do away with him this year. I liked the way the dissention within the ranks started to take it's course and the scene withthe shotgun was pretty well done. Good show overall.”

The setting was not the Pinelands though. It looked more like northern New Jersey. And they were talking about the Jackson Whites, who inhabited a mountainous area in North Jersey. It wasn't well researched.
