Geo...
I belive it was filmed in Harriman state park in NY, but it was supposed to be the NJ Pine Barrens.

Are you in the witness protection program, LH?

MM, Steve Van Zandt cracks me up with the scowl and some of his tirades. Especially the one at the poker table where he goes off on that goofy kid cleaning up around him. It's also so out of character from seeing him on stage with Springsteen or as a solo artist and all his charity and anti-apartheid work and such...

Jeez, thanks LH for enlightening me again. All my 61 years, I thought the Mafia was a benevolent organization doing charitable works for underprivileged kids. I actually thought The Sopranos went overboard in painting the mob as a bunch of bloody criminals. Gosh, you really are a swell person for enlightening us.

I never lived in a city where the mob killed people. Here in Philadelphia, things are wonderful - no murders and little crime to speak of. The biggest problem our police have is getting enough lollipops to hand out to kids.

Just tell me one thing. How do you know what the Sopranos is about if you don't watch it? I mean, you seem to have an amazing ability to know about things that you have no experience in. That's a pretty phenomenal ability.

Geobeet, yes I am phenominal, not everyone notices that. If you are familiar with John Gotti and his fireworks display every year in Howard Beach where he lived, they thought he was wonderful in that neighborhood. When the police finally put their foot down and said no more fireworks, which are illegal, all of the Howard Beach neighbors came out on the streets to tell the news how wonderful Gotti was, and it was unfair not to let him shoot off his firework extravaganza in their neighborhood. Yes, there are a lot of idiots out there that think the mafia is okay.

Treebeard, living around mafia people as I did growing up, my father did make a point to inform us all not to be involved with these people. Therefore, I remain free to roam the U.S. and return to NY without fear of harm (if I wear a mask, lol).

To some people they seem harmless, like they only kill each other, and make money from gambling, but what they do is extort money, and go to businesses and tell people to pay up every month or they will break their face or worse go after their family members etc.

Right now Gotti's daughter, Victoria Gotti, has a show on tv, she says, to show her family is not a ganster family. Afterall, her father was a plumber.

I have a mafia story. This guy I knew was beat up and rolled up in a carpet and dumped by mobsters in a field. He made it out alive and the whites of his eyes were all red.

Now that would have been enough for me to close up my business, and leave town, but he didn't. His body parts were later found hacked up and thrown along the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn. Then his head was found compacted, and his fingernails were pulled out.

Mostly car-bombs in Montreal...usually done by Hells Angels..but some of the hits were supposed to have been ordered by the Mafia (allegedly).

One from New York city...two Oriental guys (Chinese or Vietnamese) robbed people on a bus heading to Atlantic City to gamble. The Mafia tracked them down, and grind one guy alive into mince meat...leaving the head intact. The second guy was forced to listen and watch. The bag of meat/flesh was thrown in front of a police station (Chinatown's I think)....and the second guy was set free to spread the word. He went crazy btw.

Reasons for being hacked up or ground up like chopmeat:

You didn't pay back a loan.
You made a bet and didn't pay back the loan shark.
You didn't pay your monthly protection money.
You didn't sell your business cheaply to some mafia guy that you were in competition with.

Leaving a body in pieces is always a good way to deter others from not fullfilling monetary obligations to the mafia.

If you just piss them off, then you get killed, but your body is never found. There's no purpose to letting a body be found when it's a personal matter.

Talking about "protection money"...In New York's Chinatown....the shops have signs that say they're "protected" by this or that organization in Chinese. That way the shop owner don't have to pay double, or triple if other gangs want to muscle in. They can muscle in....but they'll have to tangle with the original gang first.

stanlee, I'll have to look for that on my next trip to NY.

This is the land of the free, but not for everyone. Those Asian gangs are as bad as the mafia.

The up and coming gangs (Chinese, Vietnamese, Columbians, Russians etc.) are even worst than the established gangs (Italians, Irish etc.). The "older" organizations seem to, or have a "code" amoung themselves. The newer gangs are going through an evolutional process....in about 20 years...they'll be like the established gangs now.

NEW YORK - A young police officer dying from a bullet to his chest shot two burglary suspects early Saturday, one of them identified as an actor who played a misfit mobster on The Sopranos.

Officer Daniel Enchautegui, 28, collapsed in the driveway of his Bronx home and died shortly afterward.

The wounded suspects were quickly captured. Investigators identified one as Lillo Brancato Jr., an actor who got his break in the Robert De Niro-directed film A Bronx Tale in 1993 and played doomed mob wannabe Matt Bevilacqua during the 1999-2000 season of The Sopranos.

Saw that the other day. Bevlilaqua was the character that tried to rob the card game Tony was running. Tony and Big #&%!$ shot him while he was tied to a chair pissing his pants.

Jackie, Jr. tried to rob the card game, Geo. Bevilacqua was the one who was involved in the pump 'n' dump stock scams with the other bozo and then shot Christopher, trying to make an in with Richie Aprile.

But, you were right about him peeing himself...

I had that one in the back of my mind tree, and having a choice to make logically chose the wrong one. First thing that goes is your whatchamacallit and the second thing that goes is your other whatchamacallit! I think I'm between whatchamacallits, but I'm not betting my paycheck on it.

I'm on the phone with the cable company now adding HBO. I got a flier with an offer for HBO for 7.99 a month for a year. I'll take it for that price, but at regular price I'll wait til season 6 goes to Blockbuster.

I have a sneaky hunch that whole episode was another of Tony's dreams.

Giveaways: Phil Leotardo being nice to the Jersey guys, Bobby with the trains and engineer's hat, and the final scene. Also, Tony's lack of emotional response with his shrink.
Geobeet

That would be an interesting take, Geo. Not sure whether I agree on it, but it would be a good show of insight on your part if that were the case!

Phil making nice with Jersey makes sense, though, considering the fact that Sack's in jail.

I guess he thought he was Pu$$y Malanga!

Now, that character (not Big Pu$$y), I remember from the first season. He was the one, I believe, that was supposed to be offed in Artie Bucco's restaurant, which is why they torched it. Uncle Junior ordered the hit, so I can understand why his Alzheimer's ridden mind is reverting back to this guy...

Couple of possibilities?
Tony laid up in bed. Uncle Jun out of the picture. Phil taking care of NY end. Christopher, Paulie, Sylvio running things on the NJ end. Could end up with some interesting conflicts there????

Another scenario-----

Tony on life support. Flashbacks could fill in some gaps over the past year or so. For instance, how did Angie Bonpansiero get money and how did this conflict with Carmela come about? Janice and Bobby having a baby. Uncle Junior's deterioration. Tony and Carmela's life over the past year. AJ getting into college. The relationship between NY and NJ. Christopher dealing with Adriana's death. All these guys flipping to feds, etc. etc...
