“i just finished using the plans from here: http://uberpest.50megs.com/gaiter.html to make a fleece neck gaiter- seems like a pretty good idea, but took me two and a half hours :p i stitched it all by hand, and double stitched everything- i also put in a drawstring, used my spare boot lace- double duty, woo-hoo, and with the drawstring, it doubles as a hat too- heres the pictures of construction and teh final product : http://community.webshots.com/user/nvc83 ill give a report on how it worked when i get back! later, -nate” 2:05:52 AM 12/07/02 Looks nice “I like them. Mine is a little longer, so it can cover my head & my neck at the same time. I don't generally wear a coat or head covering while hiking. Maybe an open fleece jacket & a fleece sweat band. When I take a break, I pile into a parka or goose down.” 5:09:03 AM 12/07/02 “got back last night, but it worked great- temperatures got down around the high teens, but i stayed warm- on the hike in (it was in the thirties then) i didnt even need a hat, and only had three thin layers of shirt the gaiter really makes it so your neck, cheeks+nose dont get real cold (so your nose dosent run constantly either) but i gotta make a mesh breathing hole, the fleece catches too much water from my breath but i know ill be using this for all my cold weather camping from now on later, -nate” 1:01:21 AM 12/10/02
