I almost forgot about that one jerbear.” 2:30:39 PM 12/09/02 “I am finally getting to check in. I had a lot of things to do last night like washing clothes, hanging up everything that was wet and getting my pics ready. Then today I had to go to work. I had a great time at TC2 and will be at TC3. Towndawg you did a great job in putting this together even with all the adversity that came with it. I got to see some people I had met before and tons of new ones. I must say TT has some hot female backpackers :-). The cookoff was great even us non-judges got to taste some of the contestant's food. The prosecutor's salmon was delicious, Chili36, your chili was good but could you make it hotter next yr (please). Jerbear's food was good but the presentation was what made it, thank God for the ranger and the 12 yr old for being around. They saved us from what we might have seen. Some of the other contestants devoured there dinner before the rest of us could sample it. Thanks to stalker for making the cart. It hauled a little of everything. Tarabull, I wish there had been a belching contest cause you would have went down in defeat :-) I will gladly challenge you to a belching contest anytime, anywhere, isn't that something to be proud of...lol Gemini, your gluewine was different but it was good HPM, thank you so much for all of the work you did in getting our TT shirts ready. Matt, thanks for showing up and being part of this. How cool is it when you are talking to people that came to this event from the other side and can introduce them to Matt. Bet that doesn't happen over there. I know I am forgetting something but that happens with old age. Oh yeah here is a link to my pics TC2” 2:33:06 PM 12/09/02 hey, dayhiker... “I need personal info for my files. You've got mail... and also...who did my other Stik go to...I need to keep my files up to date...I will also be needing a photo of you USING the stik. Here's the deal...they are not to collect dust in your homes...if you do not get out and use them, all warranties are null and void. If you are looking for additional info on your stik, let me know...I have all bigraphable information stored in my files. Anyone interested in acquiring one, let me know also...I think I am ready to leave semi-retirement and start crafting again.” 2:44:10 PM 12/09/02 “Stikmon makes some stunning walking sticks. Probably the best I have ever seen. I'm gonna have to scrap up some cash and get me one.” 2:47:54 PM 12/09/02 Ewker...TaraBull... “My real trailname is "Stikbelchingmon". next year...a true belching contest will have to be included...you all are toast...Me and my chooch buddy, Bill will make you crawl away in shame!!! Lizs...you were missed by more persons other than myself...you'd have been proud at how I controlled myself and didn't fall over in a drunken stupor...not like thanksgiving at all. see ya this weekend...BABYYYYYYYYY” 2:49:00 PM 12/09/02 “stikmon, I haven't received any. I'll check again in a little while.” 2:49:13 PM 12/09/02 “Head Ranger Graham: So where are they? I told you to deliver that TownDawg and Prosecutor to me, pronto! Ranger Justis: Gone. They disappeared boss. Head Ranger Graham: Disappeared? Ranger Justis: Gone. They left without a trace. Head Ranger Graham: That’s impossible! What do you mean they left without a trace? Ranger Justis: There’s nothing left at all. All the tents, the fire rings, the cans and bottles – gone. Head Ranger Graham: I find that highly unlikely. Ranger Justis: I’m serious boss. They left no trace whatsoever; I couldn’t even find a candy wrapper. Head Ranger Graham: Put out an all points bulletin for the two of them, now! Ranger Justis: Yes sir, boss! Right away.” 2:52:28 PM 12/09/02 “I almost had a smart remark when I noticed that the Ranger's nametag said Ranger Justice. I wanted to ask if his name was Buford T., but figured he'd heard that one a few thousand times.” 2:54:08 PM 12/09/02 “Ima gonna git that there Bandit!!!” 2:56:02 PM 12/09/02 “hay Matt, you look soooo younge...” 3:00:49 PM 12/09/02 “stikmon, i have seen one of your sticks and it is a work of art! i would be honored to use one of your sticks.....” 3:03:02 PM 12/09/02 “Stikmon, do you have a website?” 3:05:52 PM 12/09/02 “Hey, many thanks to: HPM - shirts and carting signs to TC2 & hauling wood. Stalker - The cart, the tent, the flag, daaaaaa beer. Chili36 - There from day 1, and helping with everything. Trekker John - Those were some sweet signs! Josh Man - I know he couldn't come, and had reservations, but still donated some nice prizes. CGHiker - donated some gear from Zoe's Mountain Sports (I got the orange hat - Tara couldn't get her locks thru them). Jake The Mauler - Mauled about 20 stumps of wood. SmokeyGirl - brought wood, made some nice flyers, and, most importantly, laughed at all my bad jokes. Bbinkley - accomodeering prizes, and making a heck of an MC. Matt, the webmaster, NLOL, Ida, Simer, The Empress, Backpacking Princess for making great judges. The Army - For the Water Buffalo BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAIN SPORTS - prizes, prizes, good company, gear mags, etc. Stikmon - Donating some astounding handcrafted walking sticks, as well as some CABLE TV prizes (use cable, screw satellite) Everybody that cooked - It wouldn't be TC2 without you. The meals were all done very well, and much time was put into them. Thanks! MDSHiker, Gary and Backpacking Princess - Our direct link to first aide. Although I tried, sorry I didn't get to visit. The folks that drove people to the hikes - It offered a nice variety for skill levels. The Park Rangers - Didn't bother us, and were extreemly cool throughout the event. REI - Donated some gear Sun & Ski Sports - donated gear, which enabled me to eat hot food. MileMonster - Donated the BEST whisky I've ever had. Rockman & Mtn. Mo - donated TC2 mascots. Everyone who helped clean up. and... Towndawg of course. I don't think most of us would have put up with all the BS that goes into planning an event such as this, TWICE. Excellent job T-Dawg, I do believe you've created an institution. If I missed anybody, I didn't mean to, it's been a long day.” 3:20:18 PM 12/09/02 “DISCLAIMER: I've been accused of losing sight of reality -- so please completely disregard anything of what I am about to say. Tc3 -- a commercially sponsored event, complete with electric generators, bands, and hooters girls -- a flea market of gear trading, manufacturers and outdoor stores selling at discount prices, and plenty of free talks and information. Attendance nearly 500 persons, including a few international visitors. State organizations coming to us to learn how to sponsor their own local event. Incorporation into a non-profit entity that takes into account registration of Tc name, logo and reservation of all commerical rights and legal opportunities.” 3:35:26 PM 12/09/02 “Can I have the documetary rights?” 3:36:10 PM 12/09/02 “BB: What if I just get some of the Hooters girls to enter the cooking competition?” 3:40:44 PM 12/09/02 “The I definately want the "documentary" rights!” 3:42:14 PM 12/09/02 “I already have a patent pending on "TC." LOL Hey, did you people really leave "no trace?" I feel right proud of all of you. And I feel real good about being associated with you. Sorry I was not there. Would have made it if I had quit work two weeks earlier.” 3:45:24 PM 12/09/02 In fairness.... “I think you should have the "Chip-in-Dales" there..... so how about it.” 3:46:13 PM 12/09/02 “I was the last to leave, and walked the entire site to verify that everything was LNT compliant.” 3:48:49 PM 12/09/02 “Why would we want those two chipmunks from Looney Tunes?” 3:48:49 PM 12/09/02 “That's correct. No trace.” 3:49:21 PM 12/09/02 “After you. No, no, after you.” 3:50:19 PM 12/09/02 “you guys did a good job of getting rid of that body also. I wonder who it was? Oh well, if someone doesn't post for a while we will know.” 3:51:14 PM 12/09/02 “Shhhhhhhh!!!!!!” 3:53:02 PM 12/09/02 “uMmm.. why do you think we didn't have any TROUBLE from the rangers?” 3:54:31 PM 12/09/02 “yeah, there wa even wood shavings pu over any muddy spots” 3:55:57 PM 12/09/02 “I hope we thought to find all the beer I geocached in the snow.” 3:58:45 PM 12/09/02 “lol chili!” 4:04:42 PM 12/09/02 “Sounds like there was a bunch of fun on this trip. I heard about it in the REI newsletter but was unable to attend due to the weather. My car doesn't do well in the snow.” 4:48:51 PM 12/09/02 “chili, smokygirl found a couple of beers and took them home. Guess we know who they belonged to now.” 4:50:29 PM 12/09/02 “Holly: We were advertising car pools, and lots of folks shared rides. Sorry you didn't make it, would have loved to had you there.” 4:53:45 PM 12/09/02 no website...just contact me directly... “Mapleleaf...I was knocking my brain out trying to understand how you saw one of my stiks. I have sold a bunch in NYC, years ago...when I was unemployed...Also sold alot of blood then too, but then I remembered you went hiking with Master Chooch Stratusloop...he has the nicest peice of wood I ever worked on...Wayfinder is a special peice, that's for sure...I'm glad SL had it with him.” 4:55:47 PM 12/09/02 “Prosecutor posted the recipe on the other board..... I didn't taste it, but those who did all said it deserved to win. INGREDIENTS: 8 to 10 ounces of salmon, either fresh, canned or smoked. one small red potato In your first pint zip lock bag put: 1 package of Knorr Vegetable Soup, Dip & Recipe Mix. 1/2 cup dehydrated onions 1 teaspoon chicken bullion 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground white pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt (omit if using smoked salmon) In a second pint zip lock bag put: 1 cup powdered milk 2 tablespoons flour 3/4 cup dyhrdated mashed potatoes Fill a third snack sized ziplock bag with small croutons. Put all of the above along with this recipe in a half gallon ziplock bag. Bring 6 cups of water to a low boil. If using fresh or smoked fish, boil the fish for 15 to 25 minutes or until the meat falls off the bone. Omit the 25 minutes of boiling the fish if using canned salmon. Now flake the fish. Dice the pototo and add the diced potato and the fisth ziplock bag with the Knorr/onion/spice mixture to the boiling water and cook at a low boil for another 10 minutes. Add the second bag of powdered milk/potato/flour mixture and cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Correct the salt and white pepper levels to taste. Serve with croutons. Serves 2 to 4 persons.” 5:05:21 PM 12/09/02 Go Prosecutor!! 5:08:10 PM 12/09/02 Strike anywhere “Thanks to TownDawg and associates for making this a memorable event (what I can remember). Thanks to the vendors who generously donated the great gear as prizes! Great to meet like-minded maniacs willing to participate in sub-freezing conditions to demonstrate their culinary prowess. And thanks to Forest and Khatru for helping me clean up my cook pots. Well-said stikmon: Ibuprofen good, headache bad. I learned that dumping about a liter of water into an ignited MSR Whisperlite on a Saturday night creates a large, persistent orange glow. This glow, in turn, illuminates a Walrus tarp and creates the illusion of flaming fabric. "Way to go, Dad" sez Rip. In my enibriated conditon, I stagger back to find five TT revellers gawking in the shadows. "It looked like your tent was on fire!" says one, curiously disappointed. But seriously guys, thanks for the quick response. Fortunately I didn't have to kick my d@mn stove across the campground. Or body slam a flaming tent. Flaming tent walking? Rip, Cool Hand and I were all impressed with the LNT ethic - the Rangers should welcome us back next year! Hic.” 5:22:41 PM 12/09/02 “Towndog-I din't know everyone was carpooling. Oh well, Maybe I can make next year's event.” 5:41:20 PM 12/09/02 “Um, am I smelling a point to be made about having it a bit earlier in the year?? There is one person who didn't go because of concerns about a car in snow.” 6:20:27 PM 12/09/02 “i think it needs to be arlier in the year too....just mt 2 cents” 6:23:51 PM 12/09/02 “I'm really enjoying looking at everyone's pics and missing the trip at the same time!” 6:26:41 PM 12/09/02 “I loved Ewker's pic, I think it was his pic, of Backpacking Princess and the Ranger! Lol... he was sooo short!!” 6:27:48 PM 12/09/02 Need help with IDs “I added some titles to my TC2 pix. Some people I can not ID from the pix. I ones I didn't know are listed as "?#3" for a name. Please email or post if you can ID.” 7:10:15 PM 12/09/02 Stovestomper “I could not figure out any of the ? ppl but on the TC2-3 page you have OPIE? on one of the pics and it is not him. It's someone with their back to the camera wearing a green jacket. I dont know who it is, but it's not OPIE. Also on the TC2-4 page you have Cool Hand Luke and it is Rip who is cooking the soup.” 7:25:54 PM 12/09/02 “For BB - the whiskey of coice is Labrot & Graham Woodford Reserve. More $ than most, but worth it. Thanks to you and Dayhiker for hlping drain the bottle (and any others that chipped in on the effort). http://www.l-g.com/ Peace. MM.” 7:27:55 PM 12/09/02 “Man this thread has alot of hits so far!!!! I've been LMAO recaping from the posts. I was even laughing at work today thinking back on all the madness. I was walking around the fire Saturday night socializing and Stalker grabs me and introduces me to some other TTers and says (slurring), "This is walkindude. This SOB walks about 500 miles a day." That still has me LMAO!!! I wonder if Matt realizes he he partly responsible for crazyness that happened this weekend. I wonder if he's proud of us?!?! After all, It's his site that brings us together! I also wonder if Jerbear & I were the only sober adults that was at TC2? I did have a Root Beer. That was as close as I got. Gimini I recon I'm considered a TT legend cause I've been around here for so long and I've met so many people from TT. Jerbear has me beat many times over though. Jerbear is the real Legend around here!! GIVE IT UP FOR JERBEAR!!! YO BEAR!!!!!!! You Da Man!!!!! Mapleleaf You asked about Chip-in-Dales. I did give Tarabull a brief Lap Dance. How about that? Good thing that TC2 was not at Cherriot Creek. There was about 5 miles of icey gravel road going back to the Trail Head. Most people would have probably been fine but chances are, someone would have had problems. Thanks again to everyone that made TC2 a Total Blast!!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!” 7:36:22 PM 12/09/02 “Isn't it amazing how many post this thread has already? I love it! I also love the fact that there are so many people I can actually hear talking as I read the post! I feel like I've known all you guys forever!” 7:38:52 PM 12/09/02 “Towndawg Chili36 Opie Miss Opie Buddha Bear Tarabull Stalker Jerbear Bbinkley Stove Stomper Ewker Gimini Walkindude Pack Rat Stickmon & Khatru Super Troll Trail Kitten Day Hiker Ina Prosecuter & The Express MDShiker & Rachel Mile Monster Waterproof Matcher Cool Hand Luke Rip Van Winkle Simer Mauler Smoky Girl HumanPackMule Matt The Webmaster 4 dudes from Blue Ridge Mountain Sports Hitchhiker Gary NeverLostAlwaysLate Stalagmitenot & John (I think) The dude that won TC1 (don't know his name) I know there was several more but can't think of their names. Jim?” 7:45:23 PM 12/09/02 “LMAO @ Walkindude Miss Opie - I completely agree. This group is amazing. I was telling another TTer this morning that sitting around the fire with you folks was so comfortable that it felt like it was something we'd been doing for 20 years.” 7:47:09 PM 12/09/02 Jump to Page << prev
