How appropriate!!! I thought my hubby was going to facing frost bite this weekend from a fall into the creek Saturday. (I did not push him) I hope your toes are feeling better!

yep - been dancing since I was a kid - thats why i ended up in nyc - works well for that too, huh?!

maybe I'll make it my stage name too - that's why I freaked out when the toes had ice on em - all I could think was that my dance career was about to officially be over!

what type of dancing?

ballet, modern, exotic...?

hey! knock it off with the exotic dancing - sheesh.

nah, I trained as a ballet dancer before moving over to modern - I decided the pointe shoes were too painful and the negative body image was unhealthy - now I dance barefoot and don't worry as much about being an anorexic stick!

I also choreograph - and as a matter of interest - a children's theater group - that I choreograhed Stuart Little for - is performing this weekend - how friggin' cute is that?

well I had 2 out of 3 right. Its cool that you give back to the Arts by helping out the kids.

My girls have been to kindermusic, dance classes and acting classes, but have opted to stay with soccer, tball, and karate. Oh, and also hiking. They love to get out into the woods.

okay, now i'm Really jealous! modern is so freakin' fun! ballet is too, but not pointe...that's just masochistic. i danced all my life, until after college...and that's really awesome that you can choreograph, too! i tried in college, but i was the absolute worst.

If it was really frostbite, shouldn't it be... Popsicle Toes?

don't be too jealous Lyra - I'm poverty level because of the dancing! But I want to save up money - head West - and go back to school for my second love - marine science - I getting too old to keep up with the instability that is the arts! However, I will always dance but now its taking more of a backseat to new interests.

By the way, I would never have done half the things I've done this year if I were still so caught up in being a dancer - but its soooooo much fun to be starting a new path - I went skiing for the first time last winter with another former dancer friend - it was a blast! now I want to rock climb and mountaineer and spend more time traveling and exploring life - instead of always having weekends taken up with rehearsals - and fearing injuries!

Just keep dancing! But do it for fun...choreography is definately cool - I don't know if I'm any good at it I just do it when I have something I need to communicate

okay - this is an artsy farsty thread - ughhhh

Cool, a dance thread!

Only 12 more days 'till Cameron's (age 7) debut w/the Oakland Ballet production of the Nutcracker. He gets to be the kid who Mother Ginger finally realizes is still under her big skirt after all the other kids come out of it - the "star," as it were, of the scene. Photos of a recent rehearsal here.

He's also taking a modern class this year, which he really likes.

Maple - there is a show on Saturday - I'll need to check the schedule to see which cast is performing - the older kids are a lot tighter with the choreography and lines - but the younger cast is waaaaaay cute - I'll let you know! the performances are way up in my neck of the woods though - Zay and I will be going - you can join us(we should have a drink first - hehehe)
