“I am running around like a maniac, check my gear, check the internet for hiking places, I just need to get out, but I can't. Driving me nuts!!! Got ants in my pants....ahhahhahahahahhahahahhahhahhahahah, going nuts.” 10:28:54 AM 12/11/02 “Post hike withdrawl. It will pass with the next hike.” 10:31:26 AM 12/11/02 “lol... trust me Gemini.. work is only something I do to afford to go hike.” 10:33:24 AM 12/11/02 “laqtis hit the nail on the head. For several days after any hike I want to be ANYWHERE except work.” 10:40:02 AM 12/11/02 “I felt that way on Monday Gem...what is up for the weekend? I am planning on a hike Sunday if you would like to come..don't think it will be the side of a freakin mountain but it is suppose to be pretty.” 10:41:39 AM 12/11/02 “i think it will be saturday as my friend wants to introduce her hubby to mine on sunday (so they can go fishing together :)” 10:46:05 AM 12/11/02 know what ya mean “you've just got to do it man...get out. put all other things on hold and make backpacking your priority. Forget the snowshoveling, the work piling up(it will always be there). The best thing you can do is say no to everything else and hit the trail. if your like me, you'll seriously think about never turning around!” 10:51:37 AM 12/11/02 “find a way to make money is the only way to stop this from happening in the first place!” 10:53:42 AM 12/11/02 “that should read.... "find a way to make money WHILE HIKING..." ggeeeeeeezzzzz!” 10:54:20 AM 12/11/02 “you know what, if I would not have kids that are little, I would just go, go, annnnnnddddd go!! Just can't do that. Please someone tell hubby that I want a 2 week hiking trip for x-mas. That's all!!! I'll even pay for it myself. :) got to get out of here right now before I really go nuts. later!!!” 10:54:52 AM 12/11/02 “Well, if it changes let me. Where you going to hike Saturday?” 11:02:40 AM 12/11/02 “This would be REALLY serious if she said, "...I've got nuts in my pants and I'm going ants!" Hang on Gemini! How old are the kids?” 11:39:37 AM 12/11/02 “LOL, not nuts in my pants :) kids are 9 and 12, the 9 year old likes to hike, but not in the cold. the 12 year old does not like to hike. got to be home when the come from school. not sure where I am going on saturday. need to check the books to see what sounds interesting. I guess I will be walking to the closet and back about 100 times. someone can tell me how I can get some work done? just ain't going to happen today!” 1:34:15 PM 12/11/02 “forget work gemini,,,,just plan another hike....” 1:41:06 PM 12/11/02 “I feel like that every day! I need to backpack all the time! Its in the blood I tell ya! 8)” 3:04:19 PM 12/11/02 “I always look for deals on gear when i don't feel like working.” 3:41:22 PM 12/11/02 “yupp, I could do that, if I don't want to buy any of my kids x-mas presents. ;)” 3:45:01 PM 12/11/02 “I always look for deals on gear when i don't feel like working." bbinkley 03:41:22 PM 12/11/02 Translation - Binks is ALWAYS looking for gear!” 3:47:08 PM 12/11/02 “lol” 3:49:25 PM 12/11/02 “Aaaawwwwwww, man. I thought this thread was about diarhhea.” 3:57:41 PM 12/11/02 “I am sure walking forth and back like I have to gooooooo” 4:00:32 PM 12/11/02 “Good one Buddha. That is so true.” 4:05:02 PM 12/11/02 “yeah - its called an addiction! if I could go out every weekend - rain, snow, sun, wind , whatever - I would. so what's the deal - why can't you go on a trip - even if its just a dayhike? hire a babysitter for a few hours and go get some freakin' peace and quiet!” 4:17:30 PM 12/11/02 “twinkle toes... LOL it's not all that easy. We just moved here, don't know anyone, and my neighbor friend is at work. I have one friend here, but my kids don't know her yet. Besides, there is nothing really close by here in Columbia. I would have to travel at least 2 hours. Sucks!!!! I have to wait until saturday (if I did not go insane by then) Yes, I could go to the local gear store, but hey.... $$$$$$$$$$ No worry, I will make it somehow (waiting I mean) never thought I would be one of those crazy people that actually go out and "walk" in the bitter cold. Now look at me. Going to do some rock climbing classes, maybe that gets me out a little more. (I am such a poor little soul)” 4:31:28 PM 12/11/02 “oh man - hope you get your fix soon then! are the kids too little to take with you? haha - thats probably way too difficult in the cold! okay - be well” 5:08:42 PM 12/11/02 “If you are anything like me, you will go through more depression the longer the hike. After being out for more than three or four days, life begins to make sense out on the trail. Take care of your immediate needs for food, clothing, and shelter and the rest is just icing on the cake. You get time to soak in some of the abundant beauty that nature is constantly offering us. A deep relaxation sets in after about three days. Your mind rejoices for the break it gets. Then you have to re-enter the fast paced, consumer driven world of flashing neon, noise, and trash. It's enough to make you cry to see the way we live, sometimes. But, you adapt and live to hike another day. You enjoy your family and realize that sh_tting indoors where it's warm is not all bad.” 5:18:26 PM 12/11/02 “i got it....lets just all run away. How about it?” 5:29:40 PM 12/11/02 “Gemini, I get that feeling all the time. And since my son moved out, I can go out all the time. I don't ever get tired of it, except maybe Monday mornings when I need a little more sleep after the long drive home. I spent so many years at home "wanting" to go. I had to satisfy myself by doing local dayhikes every few weeks. Now the local mountains don't do it for me. I want the Sierra! btw, My truck is already packed for the weekend. I'm ready to go now, as I sit here checking weather reports, ski/snowboarding forums, and TT......” 12:06:11 AM 12/12/02 “I get this feeling quite a bit. I lamented a bit on this thread a while back. It's tough for me to make time to hike. Lately I've been wondering if I should cut down on the TT posting, the gear shopping and the web-surfing and focus my energy on planning more time in the woods.” 12:15:45 AM 12/12/02 “Yeah, I guess I have to wait a couple more years for my kids to move out. After that I think I will be doing exactelly that, pack and go. (oh boy, so I see a divorce coming up?? ahhhh, na, I think my hubby will understand) same here, the local stuff is just too...well, i guess it doesn't do it for me either. I have to at least travel 2 to 3 hours, and then it's not the greatest hike either, but I am okay with it. The Sierras: one day! One day I will meet you there. :) big coop: did not read that thread, but actually it is EXACTELLY how I feel. Makes me feel better that I am not the only one. Thought I have a problem and need to go to some sort of group support.” 6:48:58 AM 12/12/02 “All the time Gemini.” 10:33:50 AM 12/12/02 Geo “ants like acorns....:>)” 10:49:40 AM 12/12/02
