Granduer Peak Day Hike

“Dec 7 - This was a club hike. We did Grandeur Peak 6 Miles R/T, 2619 Elevation Gain, Peak 8299. I never done Grandeur this late in the season, but since their is no snow we made it into a dayhike. The trail was muddy and a few spots of ice were had. This was the first time I got to wear my new Marmot DriClime Windshirt. This piece of gear is absoulty amazing, this was the only piece I was wearing on top. The temp was around 35-40 and I was not cold one bit, not even after I got to the peak and eat lunch and sat around for a while. I highly recommend this product to everyone. There were a bunch of people on this trail today and lots of dogs. Actually this was a doggie hike, the other people all brought dogs. We all had a great time and some nice sites were seen.

Yes, cool shot of up above, looks erie. Did'nt even think about it. I waited an hour for everyone else to get back down, I was a little pissed off. I also took a couple of falls, mess up my right middle finger and left shoulder, still feels a little #&%!$ty today.

Snowy,

Thanks for the link. We have plenty of snow at 9000 and above. Will be doing some snowshoeing Sat. I hear next week we will get some more at the higher elevations and should get some around maybe 4500 I hope. All I can say is there better be some snow outside my door on Christmas. LOL”

You have a safe holiday also. Just noticed today on my right elbow I have a bruise about the size of a baseball or so kinda yellowish now, it has been tender all week. #&%!$ didn't know it was that bad. LOL Where you going in the Unitas? How long? Let me know.

I've heard about you, but I can't remember if this is the first time we met. I only snowshoe in the winter time, mostly dayhikes. We have a snowshoe tomorrow (Sat) to the Honeycombe Cliffs you are welcomed to join.

Thanks. That's whats so cool about Utah (SLC) the mountains are right there. Where I live, I have a range about 10 miles to the trailhead, but I have not been there yet, someday. I enjoy the Wasatch Range for dayhikes, shoot me. LOL

“We have put together a group from work to spend three days (two nights) at the Boulder Creek Yurt. We will ski (or snowshoe)in on the 12th and come out on the 14th. Planning on spending the day of the 13th looking to make fresh tracks.

The yurt is accessed off of 150 east of Kamas, on the way to Norway Flats. It's about three miles in.”

What is a Yurt, I've heard the term before, but do not know what it is? So, is this a backpacking trip?”

“I forgot to mention that I have a driclime windshirt and love it. Last time I was out it started snowing and I was toasty warm and dry with it on. It's also really nice because it breaths pretty good.”
