Granduer Peak Day HikeView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 21 of 21 messages posted.
“Dec 7 - This was a club hike. We did Grandeur Peak 6 Miles R/T, 2619 Elevation Gain, Peak 8299. I never done Grandeur this late in the season, but since their is no snow we made it into a dayhike. The trail was muddy and a few spots of ice were had. This was the first time I got to wear my new Marmot DriClime Windshirt. This piece of gear is absoulty amazing, this was the only piece I was wearing on top. The temp was around 35-40 and I was not cold one bit, not even after I got to the peak and eat lunch and sat around for a while. I highly recommend this product to everyone. There were a bunch of people on this trail today and lots of dogs. Actually this was a doggie hike, the other people all brought dogs. We all had a great time and some nice sites were seen. http://community.webshots.com/user/wasatchwc” 10:38:02 PM 12/11/02 “Great shots Wasatch. Looks like a good day to get above the inversion. You should have stopped in the store and said "Hi" since you were in the neighborhood.” 12:06:39 AM 12/12/02 12:12:19 AM 12/12/02 “Nice! Is Utah expecting snow soon?” 12:15:10 AM 12/12/02 “Dave, Yes, cool shot of up above, looks erie. Did'nt even think about it. I waited an hour for everyone else to get back down, I was a little pissed off. I also took a couple of falls, mess up my right middle finger and left shoulder, still feels a little #&%!$ty today. Snowy, Thanks for the link. We have plenty of snow at 9000 and above. Will be doing some snowshoeing Sat. I hear next week we will get some more at the higher elevations and should get some around maybe 4500 I hope. All I can say is there better be some snow outside my door on Christmas. LOL” 9:48:50 AM 12/12/02 “Ouch, hope the falls weren't too bad and your finger and shoulder are better. Happy holidays and Ho-ho-ho to all.” 10:10:49 PM 12/12/02 “Nice pictures Wasatch, Looked like a fun trip!” 12:47:39 AM 12/13/02 “Supposed to have snow this weekend according to the weather guys on TV. Do either of you guys x-country ski?” 12:54:01 AM 12/13/02 “Nice pictures - it's so nice to have mountains so near the city.” 7:53:33 AM 12/13/02 Mediaman “Yes I do XC (and snowshoe and downhill, and BC Tour) but unfortunately I'm going to be very busy for the next couple of weeks. I probabaly wont be able to get out much before my Uintas trip in January. Please go have some fun and tell me all about it. I'm Jonesing for a trip......” 9:38:58 AM 12/13/02 “Nice stereo dude!” 9:50:09 AM 12/13/02 “Dave, You have a safe holiday also. Just noticed today on my right elbow I have a bruise about the size of a baseball or so kinda yellowish now, it has been tender all week. #&%!$ didn't know it was that bad. LOL Where you going in the Unitas? How long? Let me know. WLD, Thanks for stopping by. I've been up there quite a few times already, but never this late in the season without snow, kinda cool. I always enjoy your trips. mediaman, I've heard about you, but I can't remember if this is the first time we met. I only snowshoe in the winter time, mostly dayhikes. We have a snowshoe tomorrow (Sat) to the Honeycombe Cliffs you are welcomed to join. wingding0, Thanks. That's whats so cool about Utah (SLC) the mountains are right there. Where I live, I have a range about 10 miles to the trailhead, but I have not been there yet, someday. I enjoy the Wasatch Range for dayhikes, shoot me. LOL Buddha Bear, Thanks for stopping by and checking my gear out. I love music and HT.” 10:40:51 AM 12/13/02 “I've never snowshoed before but I'd be interested. I've got a wedding and an 11 hour work day tomorrow but maybe some other time. Most of the day hikes you've got on your web shots page seem to be within my fitness level. Keep me updated. I'll probably be pretty busy through the new year, though.” 12:03:50 PM 12/13/02 Uintas “We have put together a group from work to spend three days (two nights) at the Boulder Creek Yurt. We will ski (or snowshoe)in on the 12th and come out on the 14th. Planning on spending the day of the 13th looking to make fresh tracks. The yurt is accessed off of 150 east of Kamas, on the way to Norway Flats. It's about three miles in.” 12:08:48 PM 12/13/02 “mediaman, I just about go out every weekend. If you could give/send me an e-mail and I will keep you informed. Dave, What is a Yurt, I've heard the term before, but do not know what it is? So, is this a backpacking trip?” 2:29:16 PM 12/13/02 “I forgot to mention that I have a driclime windshirt and love it. Last time I was out it started snowing and I was toasty warm and dry with it on. It's also really nice because it breaths pretty good.” 6:11:29 PM 12/13/02 “Nice to hear that wingding0. It's an amazing piece of gear. The DriClime Windshirt is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.” 6:18:45 PM 12/13/02 Yurts “Try These.... "http://www.advancecanvas.com/yurts/" "http://www.evanstonoutdoors.com/yurt.htm" Everything you needed to know but were afraid to ask..” 1:20:47 PM 12/14/02 “Dave, You got room for one more person on the trip.” 1:59:23 PM 12/14/02 Unfortunately no.... “It a work trip, just the gang I am employed with.... Sorry....I'll keep ya posted in future trips..” 7:49:51 PM 12/14/02 “No problem, let me know of any future trips then.” 11:46:44 AM 12/15/02
