Does anybody know where one might purchase crampon straps?

In a porn shop, I imagine.

Why buy something special when duct tape has multi uses?

I suppose that would work for crampons...

Yeah but Lyndys . . .think about it . . .

Ductape will just pull the skin right off your wrists . . .especially if you have any arm hair at all (if you shave your ankles it should come off more easily).

what were we talking about??

PS: I was talking to a gy who is ging to do Rainer. He was told a story about someone who did a CRAMPON REPAIR FOR A MISSING STRAP USING DUCTAPE

THE DUCTAPE CUT THROUGH, THE CRAMPON CAME LOOSE . . . THE GUY DIED.

DON'T USE DUCTAPE TO FASTEN A CRAMPON

(or a strapon . . .ouch!!)

Lee, take a breath. I thought that we had moved on to the tent tie-down discussion.

Of course the same life or death situation could occur if you were pitching your tentmate at a fairly vertical angle.

That's a big tent, Lyndy...

There have been a few hiking mates I would like to have thrown at a fairly vertical angle, LOL!

Crampons do not work well without straps, and my old crampons are missing a few straps. I would not trust duct tape, no matter how many roles my hero, Red Green, uses in one show.

Hopefully before this winter is over I will have put the crampons to reasonably good use, or at least had occasion to have carried them along just in case.

sigh ... ... no one understands me

The mailman is here, I have to go make that futile trek to the box to see if my cotton green babies are there.

Anyone use instep crampons?
Back in the dark ages when I did a lot of winter smoky mt trips, I used a set of steel instep crampons for the ice covered areas of the trails. They worked great. I still have the orginal pair. In the Smokies, ice was far more of a concern than snow.
Has crampon technology progressed since then?

Lyndy
Well mine was mailed out by Psycho Squirrel, so maybe that's why yours didn't arrive yet. Squirrels are easily distracted from tasks they have to perform by such things as ripe tomatoes.

Does Treebait know about HPM and these distracting ripe tomatoes?
LyndyS

Well HPM apparently turned at least some of the TT T mailing chores over to Psycho Squirrel, who apparently went down to Florida with the proceeds from selling my tomatoes on the black market. At least the return address indicated the package was mailed by Psycho.

Cool beans, then my package will be mailed by the maniacal Java Addict.

That splains it then. The Java addict is not functioning well owing to being awake for 143 hours.

Well you know, I'm kidding around. They will get here when they get here, and I'm sure that this time of year is a factor in everything. Now I have to go have a hot cup of coffee because the temperature dropped about 25 degrees over the last couple of hours and my fingers are cold.
