You're invited...
on a dayhike!

I am planning on doing a dayhike either this Saturday or Sunday - the Breakneck Ridge area. Trail taken is still to be decided.

If you're interested - let me know.

Mapleleaf - I have no life!

I can go again the following weekend - the area has alot of trails - some of which I can't get to via train - so no worries - we will all go when you get back!

I'm not quite ready for that yet. It's also a bit far for folks outside the NY metro area to go for a dayhike.

sorry geo, i am without a car so wherever I plan on going needs to be somewhat train accesible. Since I'm the one doing the inviting I can't very well ask for a lift to some exotic locale!

oh well :(

I would, but my brother is coming into town. I spoke to him last night, tried to get him to do a dayhike with me in Harriman, but he didn't sound too interested. Oh well.

Breakneck is a great hike, have fun!

Sorry Twinkles! But try to make the New Years Hike!

Mapleleaf, you crack me up!

Pennsy, I think I've told you about it before. It's near Westpoint, on the eastern side of the Hudson River, right near the Westchester/Putnam County border.

Twinkle Toes (I once knew someone named Twinkle for real. Can you imagine the mother/daughter fights they had?) yes you can ask for a ride even if you plan a hike. But I can't hike the next two weekends due to holiday stuff. But if I were going on a hike that you were attending, I could pick you up at a bus station or train station.

Six miles on the canal was all I was good for yesterday. And there are no rocks on the canal towpath. I'm still a couple months away from taking 10-mile dayhikes in the hills.

But, unlike some alleged hikers, I will get there in time.

HeII, I bet I've already hiked more since the cast came off than some "hikers" have hiked all year. Not that it's been much, mind you. Comes to all of about 18 miles.

You certainly show a lot more determination than a lot of folks, Geobeet. I'm sure in a couple of months you will be leaping tall elevation gains.

Oh boy, are we gonna start comparing mileage? I don't keep a close record, but I'm pretty sure I'm over 100 miles this year. 30 miles at one stretch in the AT sure helped.

But still, I know I'm on the low end considering the people who go out every weekend (SnowPeople, CMB, etc.)

For the year I'm well over 100 miles, which is poor for me. I got off to a very slow start and the nearly three month layoff did not help one little bit.

Right at this time it is very frustrating to be limited to low mileage. But I will slowly expand it as time goes by and hopefully start taking walks around the neighborhood when weather permits.
