SNOW,SNOW,SNOW!

“I just got back from snowshoeing too and it was great I did about 2 miles at Hoosier Nature Preserve.It was nice too see all the nice white snow and animal tracks in the snow.

“We missed the snow as usual. It has been quite a few yrs since I have seen snow on Christmas Day.
We had to go to Indiana Sunday for a funeral and got back Tuesday afternoon. We missed all the snow that came through Southern Indiana Tuesday. The first snow we saw was on the ground south of Louisville and it ended very quickly.”

We had some flakes early in the day, really nice - each flake was firm (almost like hail) and star shaped with a hole in the middle and some were quite fancy. Everything was sprinkled with these little white stars, it was really cool.

The storm started later on, and the wind howled all night. I love that sound. I'm not sure what the final count was, but there's at least a foot at my house. I planned on just blasting out to get to work, but I looked out and the bankings were too high - a good three feet or more when I went out to shovel. I got all my shovelling done this am since we didn't have to be to work until noon (don't ask me why, I just work here). But good deal, now I can go skiing after work!

Actually, I'm all done with it, and can't decide what I am going to strap to my feet: snowboard, skiis, snowshoes or cross country skiis. Decisions, decisions. I think I'll eat a salad and grab the dog and one of my toys and head out.

“I went XC skiing in the Sandia's yesterday. Sooo... nice. Cairn, the Switchback trail was in great shape. Just another storm or two and it will be awesome.”

“It seems like everytime we get a good snowpack to play on, it rains a few days later and ruins the conditions. The snow gets like styrofoam for X Country skiing after it rains and freezes again.”
