I’ve had this nightmare a bunch of times. People show up to go backpacking with me, and I discover that I have nothing ready. I pick up my pack and there’s nothing in it! Then I stumble around getting everything together, trying to remember what I need to bring – where the heII’s my list in my dreams, anyways?

Last night I got really stressed, cause I lost the reservation and had no clue where we were going or for how long!

I guess that’s what I get for using work time to plan my vacation and my BSP reservations, lol.

That can be serious. I recommend taking two backpacking trips and calling me in the morning.

Sounds like it's analogous to the "Showing up in class for the final, but you haven't studied for it" nightmare...I used to have those all the time. Well, mine were more like, "Showing up for the final, but haven't attended the class at all this quarter". Scary...

I haven't had the pleasure of those two fellas in my dreams yet, but I did dream about the Maineiacs once!

My bp nightmare is the one where the tree falls on me in the middle of the night. I hate it when that happens.....

Hey wait, not so fast, we want to hear about the dream involving the Mainiacs. I'll bet it involved Pennsy and his ever present camera. Or maybe it was the interrogations relating to the snoring mystery. Or maybe you woke up to find that someone in the shelter stole your sleeping bag, stuffed it into their bag so they would be warm, and you couldn't wake anyone to find out who was the culprit, so you froze. Or maybe it was a dream about Lyndy spilling her soup all over the ground by the shelter causing all the scariest animals to come clawing the ground near you late at night.

Interesting dream, twigeater, seeing as you were the perfect hostess for our Maineiacs trip! :-)

Perhaps an anxiety for a hard act to follow is being expressed in your dreams? If so, fuggetabbotit! There's no such thing as a bad time up in Maine! :-)

Actually, the nightmare with the Maineiacs was that you guys all left without saying goodbye! >sniff!< I think that relates directly back to the fact that I hated to see you all leave. :(

Thanks, that's very nice of you to say Santartex, but you guys were such a great bunch - so easy to please! Food, hiking, food, moose, food...simple! ;)

Merry Christmas jerbear, when ya gonna drag yer naked butt back to Maine! Full moon tonight, two in Ohio, lol!

Lyndy, I'd love to plan another fall trip. I've thrown out the idea of Avalanche Field again, for the "must do" Knife Edge, then cruise to the coast for a few days on Isle au Haut. Whaddya think?

I still have the one where I have to go back to high school, for some reason...but it's not scary, more like funny, since I usually remember about the middle of the dream that I already have my Bachelor's, so I don't really need high school anymore...lol....

I wish I had nightmares like that! Last night, I had a dream the space shuttle(or what looked like it) was either shot down or exploded over NY. The last thing I remember was running from the pieces that were raining down from the explosion.

i bet you're worried about having to prove yourself and use your knowledge at work, chili. i also bet that's one of the most common dreams people have! do you have to do "homework"? i bet thinking about stuff you have to do for work is driving you nuts(er)... ;-)

That sounds nasty wolfman, how about some trip planning to give you different nightmares, lol?

I'm game Lyndy, is five nights (with a four night option) in late September too much? Now don't start throwing things at me, but I've got this thing all planned. :)
(have had for some time, lol)

I'm learning that if I plan it, TTers will come!

i keep having that final dream...and when i wake up, i realize that i fell asleep on the final! (i really did fall asleep on my SAT :p )

ive got some friends who did have a tree dall on them in the midle of the night , one of them slept right through it :p had to be dragged out in the morning, the other guy woke up, was able to crawl out, and went back to sleep out in front of the tent. those guys are nuts, and funny as all get out.

i actualy havent had any dreams in a long time, which is probably a good thing, i kept dying in my dreams- like falling dreams? i got the part that you woke up for (the last ten feet+splatter). got knifed, mauled, and shot. im perfectly happy having a dreamless dead-to-the-world sleep :D.

I've had a recurring nightmare since childhood.. I'm playing hide and seek in an appartment building and realizing I'm quite slim, decide a great place to hide is between the inner and outer doors of the elevator. The door closes, I'm trapped, it starts to move and I'm scraped along the inside of the shaft for all eleven stories.

I had a wierd nightmare last week where I was at a family gathering, kind of like a picnic deal outside. A volcano erupted (I had watched a documentary on Mt. St. Helens around that time) and a firey death enveloped my family and was coming for me.

The strange thing was is that I knew I was going to die, had accepted my fate, patiently waited, and as the flames enveloped me I thought calmly to myself, "so this is it, I now get to see if 'the other side' exists", or something to that effect. I then died in my dream, and woke up before I knew the answer.

It totally wigged me out.

I've had a backpacking dream where the sunlight is too bright to see well.

Then I wake up and the daylight is blinding me temporarily.

I had a falling dream once where I actually hit ground. I remember feeling the grass underneath me after I hit. It was freaky.

I have a lot of those "climbing up something, losing my balance and falling" dreams. Hate those.

oohhh, creepy. are you psychic, Limpy? or perhaps caught between the spirit world and the animal world? i looked up "elevator" as a dream element on The Internet:

"Elevator – Descending: birth, activating emotions; Ascending: Movement to spirit world, activating intellect; Ascending and Descending: Channel / medium"

The only dreams I ever remember are ones that end up happening in real life. Nothing major, silly stuff like I'll dream I'm giving away baby cloths to someone I'm aquainted with, at work, so he can give them to his son.

When I dreamt it, I had no baby and I didn't even know he had a son. I had Birch deliver a garbage bag full of clothes to him last week. I'm so weird.

lol....it was an allusion to Catch-22, lyra...something about Yossarian having a dream where he's holding a fish, and the doc tells him it's a dream about sex. Then he asks what if he's having a dream about sex, and the doc says, oh that's a fish dream...

Yeah Lyndy - five nights to get Katahdin in, but could be three nights if you only want to do Isle au Haut. It'll be off season so we go out Friday and can't come back until Monday. It's a 4 or 5 mile backpack to basecamp, then explore the island the rest of the time. There are 18 miles of trails and a fresh water pond.

Jerbear and I had delish mussels and crab we picked from the rockweed and I'm hatching plans for a lobster feed. I can feel myself relaxing just thinking about the last time I was there!
