Those of us at a certain age, have the "vacination scar" on our upper arm. I know the Polio vaccine was the sugar cube (oral) but what is the vaccination which was received from that needle which looked like a vacuum tube? Smallpox was eradicated in the 70s... hmmm?

your scar is from the small pox vac. What happens, if I rememebr correctly, is that after the injection, a small "puss" blister froms and goes away after a week + , which leaves the scar. The problem is that it is unknown if your shot is still good after all these years.

no no no....that's not it...the scar was caused by the 1st generation of chip implants....they've vastly improved this procedure now-a-days.....

They said on the news that people got used to the vaccines of today which generally don't cause many side effects. The smallpox vaccine is supposed to cause more side effects than other vaccines and they expect a small number of people will die per million vaccinated. There's many people out there that will not be able to get the smallpox vaccine.

I remember the polio vaccines. Initially it was an injection or two by a needle-less "gun", with follow up of two or there 'laced' sugar cubes. It all happened at my grade school. They set up the grey wrestling mats on end to funnel people through the gym.

The difference with the small pox vaccine is that it is a LIVE virus where all the other adolescent vaccines are 'dead.' That's where the greater risk comes in.

That would be small pox for sure, the vaccine is LIVE from a cow usually and about 2-5 per million vaccinated will die. Not bad odds unless of course you are #'s 2-5.
