What do you have planned for New Years? We haven't decided yet??? When I was younger, it would be traditional to go out and get pretty smashed, but now that I'm older and smarter, that doesn't happen anymore. Now I'm lucky if I can stay awake that long and that's not even drinking!!!

ditto that. If I can make it to midnight these days it's pretty amazing.

My sister has a party, family only. We usually play Trivial Pursuit, although this year it looks like pool tournaments since she got a pool table. My mom brings noisemakers and hats (and silly us we wear them, lol) we drink champagne, the kids get a kick out of being allowed to stay up until midnight even though they don't always make it. Those of us that are awake watch the ball drop.
I bring my grandkids and my nephews camp out with us on the living room floor.
Doesn't sound exciting, but it's fun!

I'm usually the last up in our house. I have a couple of glasses of wine and fall asleep watching the east coast festivities in Mountian Time Zone.

Unfortunately, we WILL be in the eastern time zone this year, meaning that we won't be going to bed at 9:30 like we usually do. It's been nice the last few years watching the eastern time celebrations early, then hitting the sack. Don't know if I can actually stay up 'till midnight any more!

On the plus side, we won't be awakened from a sound sleep when our neighbor cranks up his chain saw / noisemaker at midnight!

No plans yet. Don't know where I'll go. But wherever it is, it'll be somewhere I can stay the night. I won't drive drunk... And even if I'm sober, I don't want to be on the roads when others are that wasted.

I used to babysit for a family w/ four kids every year. The kids were always dead set on staying up til midnight. I knew they'd never make it, so around 10pm, I'd take them outside w/ noise makers and we'd have a countdown to midnight and yell and scream. They never caught on that it wasn't really midnight. They sure felt really cool for staying up so "late" on New Years!

Maple may start a dumb thread every now and again, but she has a heart of gold and a great sense of humor. I think she knows the difference between tweaking and bashing. Lord knows I tweak her all the time. And she tweaks me right back.

Second point, there are those who might think some of the HMWHC postings are dumb threads. It depends on one's perception. If posting dumb threads were a crime, Matt would have to delete more than half the stuff on the board.

Now if you want to see some really dumb threads, look at what jello frog posts and look at the responses. Some people can't even tell when a troll is jerking them around.

Let's go back to having some fun, folks. Sorry if I started something here. I didn't want it to get out of proportion. I'm just a guy who saw a situation where I thought it was necessary to defend his wife. Hopefully, Opie will see it this way and back off and do the 'live and let live' thing.

But the Misses and I will be grilling some streaks, tipping a glass of wine, perhaps some bubbley stuff, and going to sleep before midnight. Only to be awakened by gun shots at 12:01am

LMAO, I thought of this post this morning around 7am. I didn't really think I slept that much, what with 5 kids ages 2-12 in sleeping bags all over the living room with me as their den mother.

However as I was "waking up" I sensed someone else was awake. I rolled over and my 7 year old niece was looking at me with her big brown eyes, and with the voice of pure innocence said, "Aunt Missy, how come your nose sounds like it's tootin'?"

So I guess I musta slept a little after all!
