Well, we finally took our honeymoon and it was wonderful! I was pushing for a backpacking trip, but finally "we" decided that a honeymoon should be a more pampering experience. ;op

We took a 7-night cruise on "The Voyager of the Seas" - the largest cruise ship in the world and one of the most environmentally friendly (relatively speaking).

I was anticipating an overcrowded, clostrophobic, tortuous voyage and focused on the incredible destinations instead. Ports of call included: Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico. In contrast to my fears, the ship was amazing and never felt crowded. There were four pools to swim in (one with a water slide even!), 8 jacuzzis, a mini-golf course, rock climbing wall, ice skating rink (whadafuh??) and 4-story theater. The gym was nicer than the one I pay for at home and anything else you can imagine, they had on board...

But the best parts of the trip, of course, were the ports we explored.

We hiked, swam, snorkeled wrecks, explored jungles and waterfalls with amazing flora and fauna, visited ruins and wandered through vastly different cultures. It Rocked!

Here are some pictures...

Dare & AmyG, congratulations!!!! Your pictures are beautiful. I've vacationed in Jaimaca & Cozumel, but by plane. I loved Cozumel. I stayed at at the hotel La Cieba, which was right next to where the ships dock. There were a spectacular array of fish right there.

Did you have a chance to go to Chankunab Lagoon. It's a real touristy place to go and snorkel. People come over by boat from Cancun to snorkel there for the day.

I love snorkeling. What a great way to start out your lives together.

The color of the Ocean along Tulum is beautiful. Teal, isn't it? Don't have the Crayon box nearby.

Kind of reminds you of run-off from Sierra glaciers.

Having been to Cancun, the area looks similar. Although never seen the ruins like that. Must be quite some history there.

Congrats again. Live long and prosper. \o/
