What I got for Xmas.

“It was a very generous Holiday for us. I got much more gift certs than I wanted, so I'll be off to REI in a few to pick up my new Sleeping Bag (REI O degree Down Time) and Pack (haven't made a firm desision on that one just yet). The best part of this years celebration was not the gifts at all. We all had a pretty humble Christams all in all, it was having all of our families over for our open house. My wifes side came around lunch time for brunch, my side came in the afternoon for a later brunch, then after they had left, we called up our good friends and they came over for dinner. The time spent was great. Everyone had a good time, no special holiday fights :) and just basically great vibes. This is our fourth year of doing this at our house and it just gets better every year!

“I got a climbing harness, a pair of jeans a sweater and a hat scarf and wool socks. All in all not to shabby. The harness is what I am most excited about.”

“I had so much fun with my niece and nephew this Christmas. My niece is 6, and she was genuinely excited about the gifts she got. Big hugs from her all around. She also treated us to several Christmas carols, which she got to sing in church. My mom played the piano and Alyssa sang.

My nephew just turned 2, and is so darned cute! His favorite holiday sayings were "Happy Birthday" which Frosty says when they put the hat on him, and "oh, oh, oh, merry missmas!". I could just eat him up!”

But, the best part, as always, was watching the kids. My daughter (14) and my nieces (11 & 14) spent the day wrangling my brothers boys (2, 1 & 1). What a riot!

“I got a white Christmas! We had about a foot and a half of snow up near Rochester, NY.. and my brother who lives in Tampa was up and we spent the entire day sledding and engaging in snowball fights with my little cousins. Soooooo much fun!!!! I was so happy my brother got to see a pretty major snowstorm and play around in it (and be scared s%$#less of my driving home in it this morning.. about 6 hours back to Jersey).

Okay, materialistic stuff. I accumulated enough Campmor gift certificates from my parents and other relatives for a nice new pair of snowshoes, which I'll go get either today or tomorrow. Should have enough leftover for an ice axe as well.

My brother also got me a sweeeeeeeeeeet new 128MB Raedon 9500 3-D accelerator card for my computer. My video games will now screeeeeeeeam!!! :-)

“I got a pair of Atlas 1030 snowshoes and some Leki snow baskets to fit my trekking poles. We also got 24" of snow yesterday, so I'll go and try them this weekend. I just had to hit the slopes today with all that new snow...conditions were unbelievable!”

“We had Christmas in Atlanta at my sister-in-law's new place, and it was fun. My sis in law took the Mom in law to REI to buy my presents. I got a few stocking stuffer thingies, a REI gift cert. and a great blue pebbly-looking sweater that fit great. My husband got me a FujiFinepix digital camera 2650 and I've taken pictures but haven't learned some tricks, like how to take pictures outside at dusk and still get some definition. I haven't loaded the pics into the computer because the manual says something about using a power adapter rather than batteries. Need to decide whether to stick with Picture Trail or move to Webshots for album. Lots to do. Want to get snowshoes, but it looks like they are $250 so I am waiting for a sale.”

“I have the Fuji FinePix 2600 and I don't use a power adapter. It doesn't take that long to upload the pics!
I just uploaded 82 pics at the highest res. (1200x1600)it only took 60 to 90 seconds tops.

You can always re-charge the batteries :)”

“Ummmm I need a little more help. I set up an account at Webshots but I seem to be stuck in a revolving door. How do I get to a place where I downoad pictures from the camera into an album. I login, it recognizes me, I go to My Photos and it asks me to login. Sorry to be so confused.”

“I agree Lyndys..I am going to make time to get out..but I havent started the new year off to good..had to back out of my first planned trip ..The trail club I belong to is having a First Aid and CPR seminar..I need to take it to become certified to be able to run the chainsaw when doing trail maintenece...( I'm hoping I wont have to use it..lol )

“Yes cookies were the problem. Norton is set to block most things unless I specifically unblock them, site by site. This helps with the kids, for now at least, until they figure out how to get around it.
