After having been my close companion for the last 21 years, I had her put to sleep this morning. She had quit eating and was in obvious discomfort. The vet said she was suffering kidney and heart failure. Her arthritis had advanced to the point where I had to carry her upstairs.
I cried like a baby when the vet put the needle in her. I shall miss her very much.

Very sorry, FG. I know how attached one can get to a pet. My sympathies to you.

That sucks, FG. Losing pets is very hard. I'm sure you gave your feline friend a very happy (and long) 21 years.

Lord knows I'm not a cat person, but I've lost dogs and been in the same emotional state. The second dog was a young one I had raised from a pup and we had to take her to the pound because my second wife's land lady was a jerk. I should have kept the dog and gotten rid of the second wife, but I did not know that at the time.

Pets are wonderful. We miss them when they are gone. Give the grief time to heal and get another kitten.

I'm so sorry to hear that Father Goose. I'll give mine an extra "chuck" under the chin when I get home.

Sorry to hear that FG. Your cat did have a nice long life, and that you can be happy about. I commend you for having the resolve to bring the cat in so it didn't have to suffer.

I just bought a chihuahua pup, and my husband is already prepping me for her demise. He says, all you can do is give her a good life for all the years she is here, and that's all you can do.

Scooter was a wonderful and loving cat I shall miss her greatly. Father Goose gave her to me shortly after we met. I am a chocolate mess but I want to thank all of you for understading.

I feel very strongly for you. I have an elderly cat now, and another with heart problems. I dread what will come, and can only hope they don't suffer.

Of course, those two just went blasting past the door chasing each other at top speed so I needn't worry just yet. Freaks, lol!

Sorry to read about that FG $ MG.
My cat, Miss Priss, was the best long term relationship I've had with a female.

Father Goose, that's always the sad part of having a pet live with you. The sadness it causes.... does it truly outweigh the happiness they bring you in thier lives. It may seem so now, but after time, the fond memories will outweigh the saddness. Take care.

damn fatherG and motherG, very sorry to hear of your loss. i dread the day when buckshot dies. i have been thinking about it lately and they pass through our lives so fast. it's enough to really bum you out if you let it. my grandparents(both very frail) just lost a kitty they have been attached to for a long time. it tore them up really bad. over Christmas, we plotted and schemed to get them a new one. it wasn't an easy decision, because we we're afraid it would be too hard on them to loose another one. they bring us joy and entertainment and make us feel wanted and important. maybe you can find another special pet to get your bride, when you're both ready...

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to bear. I respect your ability to be able to make a decision like that. I've been there and I feel your pain.

Take care.
