Can walkindude get a witness?

Yes he can.

Georgia is tough and fun. What I want to know is, is the next section through NC any easier? lol....

North Carolina is pretty tough too but I think Georgia is harder.

I've never seen a bear in Georgia yet. Saw one in North Carolina though.

i've done from dick's creek gap into nc. once you get into nc it's tough for a while.
i havent' been on the AT a whole lot but the steepest section i've seen was in the "welcoming hills" of north carolina coming out of ga.

WD...bears are becoming an increasing problem in GA. FG and I had an encounter with one, plus there's one who lives on or near Springer who has learned how to get food bags off the bear cable system.

Georgia
The Approach Trail is a must do if you've never done it. I love the first part just going to the top of Ammicolola Falls! Right off the bat it kicks your ass.

I did the stairs to the top of Amicalola a few weeks ago. Definitely an ass-kicker, even without a pack!

did the approach trail last new years. stayed on springer that night.
the next morning i made it all the way to three forks before prowler and i told an older couple they could take us back to our car or we would just take their car and drive ourselves.
it's amazing how much better shape i'm in after 1 year.

I made it to Three Forks the first day and then to Gooch Gap the second day. We actually camped in the meadow next to USFS 42 cause the shelter was full.

hehe, it's so funny to think about that trip now.
it was my first "real" hiking trip meaning more than 5 miles in 1 day. when we came to that shelter at the bottom of springer it was already dark and town dawg says "i think we're gonna keep going." i thought i was gonna tear his head off. i wanted to lie down. i was playing catch up all day, they'd be ending their break just as i caught up, and i was just getting over being sick for almost 2 weeks. and he says we're gonna keep going.
at least he made me dinner that night:)
