I want to learn
Today after spending the night at a friends house we (5 of us) went to a local driving range. I beat the #&%!$ out of 100 balls. I had a great time. Then we played some minni golf. As usual my putting game sucks. Do any of you have any good websites to advise me in playing a better game. I enjoyed my self and would like to play full 18 and do well. Any good websites to guide me.

I don't know about websites because I stopped golfing about 4 years ago. However, I did learn the three most important rules of golf before then.

1. Keep your head down.

2. Keep your stupid head down.

3. Keep your damn stupid head down.

Seriously, that's it. And don't try to kill the ball. And practice on your short game more than your long game. Driving long isn't as important as being accurate from a short distance.

I was hitting the balls around 150_ _ _ _ today with a 5 wood.

Feet/yards, I don't remeber, use what ever sounds like a beginer could hit.

i used to be a golfer
in 8th grade i was the best golfer,
after that, everyone else got better, and i stayed the same. i was the only 8th grader on the jv team, and as a senior i was still on jv.

it's an interesting sport - i never really could get the damn ball in the hole...

I gave up golf several years back so I could concentrate on mountaineering and backpacking. At the time I was a scratch player.

You're not going to learn much from a website. If you are serious, it's very important to learn the fundamentals, such as the grip and the stance. Visit a local course and take a few lessons from the PGA pro.

I've been playing golf for over 30 years, but since I started hiking and backpacking, I rarely play. I'd much rather spend my weekends in the woods than on a golf course.

I've played golf before. The way I see it, I have a better day than most. I get to hit the ball more time than everybody else.

LOL, nice way to look at it WD.

I too would rather hike in the woods. But learning golf for me is like learing the forign laungue of a potencial bussines partner. Golf is a rich man's sport, it is part of the politition tripple crown "wine, dine, and pocket line" Golf falls under "dine" or other get to gether. I want to know how to play, so I don't look like a fool with a stick in my hand if I am playing with a bussnes partner.

Pluse it looks like a fun sport- wack the #&%!$ out of a ball, sounds good.

golf; a good walk spoiled
i love golf, but like others i have given it up for hiking. golf is very time consuming. one of the things i liked about it was being outside. i shoot around 100-110.

Be the ball, Danny.
Tiger Woods 2002 on PS2 is a pretty kewl game.

Its a great game learn. Find a used sporting goods store, look in the classifieds and fit yourself w/a decent set of clubs, take a few lessons from either a instructor or a friend who knows how to play and what the basic fundamentals are. Then practice and remember to have fun.

You will only be reading tips from web sites when this is something that requires a more hands on approach. I set up a driving net every spring to shag balls into and a buckets for drop shots just so I don't get to rusty.

I don't play but you'd be amazed at the amount of business done during a round of golf.

I used to print shirts for the PGA and they used to comp us passes to play the stadium course here at Sawgrass. Needless to say we used the passes to court clients and got almost all of the contracts we were after by doing it.

But honestly Tea, if networking is all you want out of golf all you need to know is enough to not be a hack and embarass yourself or worse yet butcher the course and be removed from the course with clients in tow. I've seen that happen and it's not very impressive to the potential client.

If you like to play then take a class with the course pro.
