It is okay, Stratdewd, we don't care how many years you spent in the sixth grade. The important thing is that you did finally make it to middle school.

Actually Bitpusher, I was thinking just that after I posted on that thread, that someone would play a joke on me at a group backpacking trip. That is why I added the caveat, which you then joked about.

Ya Know.... I've found that these message boards are like the rest of our daily lives in at least one respect. Once you fling those syllables out into the aether... they're Out There. After that, all we can really do is deal with the consequences.

Sorry to get all psuedo-philisophical, <G>. Gimme another glass o' that rouge ordinaire.

(i'm still celebrating a little), <smiles>.

Uh oh! Birthday Over! No excuses left! <G>

I'm sooooooo confused! Mapleleaf is actually Treebeard sometimes and Sassafras is really Birch... jeeeeeez, you multiple personality types need to get your acts together, <GRINS>

Thank G-d all the holiday craziness is FINALLY over! Time to find places to stash the new goods, start paying off the #^@)$& credit cards and shed the 5 lbs that mysteriously appeared over the last month or so.

I'm not sure what that 'normal' thing is but it's time to try and get back to it.

"had" - Does that mean that you were evicted from your apartment? Kicked out into the rain? Wow! Good luck.

Tilt - Are you saying that you had a medical problem? I thought you juat had a flat tire on a vehicle (in the rain). If it is medical, I hope you will be OK soon.

Pleurisy does not sound enjoyable. Good luck.

the dangerous sofa
wow, did *I* have a weird week.

I woke up last Friday AM (18th) feeling some chest discomfort. No 'hurt', just discomfort. It didn't get better (or worse) as the day progressed... so I had my internist check it out that afternoon. He said 'it didn't sound right' so I went over to the hospital to get a quick chest x-ray.

The radiologist showed me the x-ray saying... "This branchlike structure is your right lung. Over to here is your left lung..."

T'waren't nothin' there! I'd had a flat. The left lung looked just like a deflated balloon. Sooooooooooooo, they put in a chest tube, re-inflated it (OUCH),
and kept me for about a week to keep an eye on it.

So now I'm home. Going to grab some clothes and hang out with Mom for a few days (O Joy, LOL).

No weightlifting for at least couple of months, <G> --- no BPing either!

<grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr>

The Doc asked, "What did you do to it?"
I said, "I just fell asleep on the sofa watching TV!"
Tilt
2:58:13 PM

Tilt, you did something that caused the protective outer layer of your lung (parenchyma) to rip or tear (forceful breathing during weightlifting?). Normally, there is a slight negative pressure between your lungs and the inside of your chest. Once the trauma occured, every time you breathed, air went through the rip and into your chest cavity, creating a positive pressure and collapsing your lung over time. The doc put a chest tube in to relieve the positive pressure and then they probably sucked back on the tube alittle to reestablish that negative pressure.

Restup and remain medicated!
