As far as their trips go...
Sequoia started a trip to the Needles, which is only about 25 miles east of me....so I signed up
and Hikin' Mike signed up too.
Interestingly enough Mike and I are the only ones left that are still planning on going with Miss Sequoia....wait til she finds out wer're from over here...moooohhahaha LOL!

I've already met her, she works for the Sequoia National Forest/Monument in Springville...nice lady, don't know why everyone bailed on her just because it turned into a snowshoe trip after recent storms ;)”

I go over there, but only to read what is being talked about in the Mountianeers forum, thinking maybe I could learn something.”

It seems to me that both sites have their share of veteran backpackers, newbies, and people who simply are computer wonks who have found some sort of online community to be a part of. I definitely wouldn't say that simply hiking with a bunch of people from a bulletin board qualifies one site as "better" than another site; personally, I prefer to solo, or go out with maybe one partner. I go hiking to get away from people; that perhaps you (and others in this community) perhaps prefer the company of many others doesnt make this the "better" board, IMO.”

I have trouble defining the word "better" on an objective scale.

It would appear to me, IMHO, it is entirely subjective and, like many other things in life, we gravitate toward those groups with whom we more closely identify.

There was a "bearmagnet" back in 2001-2002 with a dozen or so posts and nothing since. I couldn't use it. But was able to use "Bear Magnet". I guess that makes me a Torll.
