bbinkley; Here's the thread I was talking about in our IM
http://www.thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread.php?id=6128&age=999

Like I say it depends on what people wanna do Friday night. You may opt to find a good sight near Tunnel Ridge Road. The one, across from the Gray's Arch parking area, that is marked on the map is plenty big with decent views w/in a 5 min. walk. If the site were occupied already(unlikely on a Thursday or VERY early Friday) there a several unoffical sites along the Road. You just gotta watch for the obvious pull overs with 'goat trails' leading from them. These sites tend to be about 200' from the road. Parking may be an issue unless you get a site thats not too far down the road from one of the Parking lots on Tunnel Ridge. We would just have to agree on some sort of sign/trail blaze so everyone could find you once the find Tunnel Ridge Road.

Just a idea!
There are 39.6 miles of trail in RRG if we did 13.2 miles a day we could do all the trails in the park.

Ya I know I am nutz!

There are more like 60 miles of marked trail in the RRG Geological Area. I can show you that many miles again of very interesting but unoffical trial. I was actually thinking about trying to talk a few people into a loop hike on unmarked trails up and around Long Wall(Directly across the river from Court House Rock.)
The climb up and view from Court House Rock is also great and if you time your hike right as you hike out you can watch the sun set across the valley and then rise an set through Double Arch. That's pretty cool.

If anyone is interested you can get a nice topo map from the US Forest Service. The cost is $ 7.00
You need to send a check made out to the US Forest Service and send it to
Stanton Ranger District
705 W. College Ave.
Stanton, Ky 40380
If you want to call the number is 606-663-2852

I got mine within a week. It shows a few undeveloped camp sites on the trail. They also send you a small map and lots of info on the area. Postage is included in the
$ 7.00

summary.

Thursday night-some folks will meet up and car camp.

Friday-dayhike or hike to the place where we are going to camp friday night-this place will be close enough for people coming in late to meet us that night.

Saturday- hike-there are several routes to get to the same camp site. Let people choose which route they want to go and everyone meet up at the same camp area.

Sunday- hike out and grab lunch together.

Greyhound baby, Greyhound. But it's a dangerous way to travel these days. Buddy of mine hopped one from Colorado a few years ago and the bus had to be boarded by police after a guy pulled a knife stabbed a guy and threatened the bus driver.

Or Louisville is probably the biggest. Little further to travel.

Crazy Mike or myself would probably go through both Louisville and Lexington if you needed a ride from the airport.

I'm not 100 % sure I'm in for this one yet.
