Got my maps recently for the 'daks high peaks region and was wanting some feedback on some good hikes, 2-4 day loops. We talked about it some on the Loyalsock trip but not enough. Any suggestions?

You can take pretty much any trail up there and both be challenged and see fantastic views. You cannot miss. Only point to mention is to scale down your miles per day in the High Peaks to two-thirds or three quarters of what you would do in these climes. Also, if you camp near Marcy Dam or Lake Colden, expect bears.

stratusloop...no time in particular but I'd be glad to hike with ya again. If you want to we can pin a date down and post it on the trip page. According to Geobeet you can't go wrong up there as far as location.

I've only been up there a couple of times, but Geobeet's right. It's pretty hard not to go wrong, just pick a trail that looks steep and hit it!

I've hiked up Macomb, South Dix, East Dix, Hough, Dix, Algonquin, Iroquois, and Wright, and all were great!!!

Haystacks
by far one of my most favorite peaks to visit in the winter. With that beautiful view of Marcy so close you think to could hit it with a snowball...you can't go wrong

I might end up being able to do a couple days of hiking in the Adirondacks this coming summer after I visit my parents who live next to the Berkshires. I'm looking forward to it.

statusloop...what did you come up with after looking at your map. Mt. Marcy sounds good but if it gets crowded when it warms up, won't be much fun. We should look at the end of the month or sometime in Feb. What do ya think?
