Yellowstone Nat. Park

“Hi again,

I am thinking of heading out to Yellowstone the weekend of Jan 24th, driving from Chicago...

Any pre-trip suggestions? Advice to watch out for stuff like booking shelters (rather avoiding shelter fee :), and other ideas?)

“SUCKS , as far as backcountry. Do the drive thru and do some cool BPin in the Tetons!”

“Uh, the only backpacking you'd be doin in the Tetons in January involve either snowshoes or backcountry skis and an avalanche beacon. The last place I'd want to be is in Cascade, Death, or Garnett Canyon.”
