I'm on the road next week, it is difficult to maintain on thest trips, will have to dig up the dicipline, all this will help.

Ewker has lost a lot of weight.
I saw a big diff in him from the Grizzard trip and Walnut Bottoms.
He's becoming a lean, mean, hiking machine. ;)

Wow, lots of good news here. Me? Still holding steady at 152-153, just under my original goal weight. About to go on vacation - should be interesting. A week of backpacking, then 2 weeks of being a tourist....

At first I thought this was about everybody's pack weight. 152, 205. Yikes! OK, I get it now.

I loose weight every summer because the heat makes my appetite diminish. I have been holding steady @ 135 all summer. I will bulk up to 145 in the winter.

Been holding steady at about 120lb....weekends kill me just about all the time. Still would like to get down to 110-115lb and hold that....

I peaked at 216! (at 6' that is not good). Will hit the trail at 203 tomorrow. I always come back much lighter after a week+ trip.

120? 145? 110? I weighed that in grade school. Lowest I've been as an adult was 187, and looking much like a camp survivor. I'll be more than pleased if-make that when-I break 200.

Nine pounds and counting for me!

Okay, it's really working
I'm down 13 pounds in a week and a half, using the Atkins diet and trying to get out and walk every day or night. I went out and bought a size 42 belt (it seemed like it would fit using the first notch), and I'm down to the next to last notch. I will need a 40 this weekend.

My legs are feeling stronger, and with less weight to carry things are coming together. I began pumping endorphins two nights ago and continued last night.

The ankle still hurts, but I think the walks are ultimately going to strengthen it. I'm coming up on the one-year anniversary of the break.

Thank you Dr. Atkins!

Two more pounds gone this morning. Everything came together last night. Did nine miles at better than three per hour and broke into short runs five times during the walk, including in the last half mile (just because). Hadn't done any running in about eight years.

Now down to 250 from 265.

It was damn near impossible until I tried Atkins. I just decided to ramp it up a bit and get back to taking vigorous daily walks to burn the fat faster. It's working well.

Thanks for the good words Ewk. I appreciate it. My plan is to get down 30 pounds within four weeks and then slow it down. That seems attainable.

Waaaaaaaah!! I am just maintaining my stupid weight.

OK, I have started nightly walking and biking. I try to do a good-sized hill to start. Then, at least on the area bike trails, it's pretty level.

Good going, Geo. Maybe I'll have to look at Atkins. Also, how long does it take you to walk 9 miles? I've been walking for about an hour, but not sure how many miles I'm doing.

Course, I guess I could get out my GPS and it would tell me, huh?? DOH! And speed, too! I'm trying to walk/hike at a very good clip. And I know when I've been geocaching, trying to get to one walking, it seems I'm usually doing around 3 to 3.2 MPH.

Maple: RE: abs.

Go crawl on your belly through a tight space in a cave. LOL! I just know that after doing that I felt stomach muscles I didn't know I had!! (or at least hadn't felt in 20 years!)

I'm thinking of implementing belly crawling into a fitness plan. :-)

Belly crawls in a cave scrapes it off.

I walk in a park where they have mile markers every half mile. Around the neighborhood, I measured three courses with the trip meter in my car.

The nine miles took not quite 2:40 to do, somewhere between 3 and 4 MPH. Considering where I'm coming from, that is good right now.

I also hope this will strengthen the leg I broke last summer. I think that is happening too.

Atkins is good. His latest (and last I guess) plan included taking in some carbs after the first week. If you are exercising, you can take in some carbs, as long as you stay below the 60-gram-per-day limit. I've been binging on Sundays, but then working it off.

Man, good going Geo!
Whatever Ewker's doing, it's working for him. I noticed a big diff in him.

I'm down to 174 this morning. Not bad for me.

Just by cuting out the beer and ice cream, I can stay at this weight by walking a bit each day. Some exercise is required.
I snak during the day on apples and other fruits, I cut out all soft drinks and the local Dominos is crying big time.

I think I'll cheat and order from Dominos tonight. ;)

I'll be out on sea trials till late Thur or maybe Fri morning that week.

If I get back early Thur I'll have time to get ready for the all day drive Fri. I sure do want to make it. I need someone that lives around Mobile to start posting on TT so we could car pool!

The low carb beer is Michelob Ultra. Time reviewed that and other low carb stuff in the latest issue. They said the Michelob Ultra at 2.6 grams tasted watered down and recommended Miller Lite at 3.2 grams instead. I had some Miller Lite, and it tasted like beerade!

The bottom line is this: if you are exercising and burning up carbs, you can afford an elevated level. Otherwise, anything over 60 grams goes to body fat. That's the point of exercising after dinner.

I don't know what happens if you swill a brew after coming in from a vigorous walk or run.

I went to the Doctor yesterday for my 30 yr checkup. Ok I am a little slow at going to these checkups.

Anyway the good news is that I had lost 16 lbs since last month when I was in to see him for a problem. So far I have went from 245 to 209....wooohoo

he did find a few minor problems that I am going to have to get fixed: skin cancer, scoping my throat for possible problems (herina) and sleep apena.

All of these are fixable and I am in good shape and he said to keep on doing what I am doing :)

I'm still holding at about 15 pounds gone. It should start to move down again during the weekend.
