True story, per my brother who lives in Tampa:

A group of about half dozen or so young teenage punks were holding up signs saying "Go Raiders" and "Bucs Stink" at a semi-busy Tampa street corner.

My brother drove through, thinking what a bunch of stupid punks, only looking to rile people up. You see, Tampa Bay fans are pretty rabid.

Well, my bro kept his cool and drove through, but noticed another car coming down the intersecting street. Then suddenly, coming from the blue car was a massive assault of water balloons and eggs which drenched the young punks on the street corner. Ha ha ha!

GO BUCS!!!

Oh well, The Bucs did look good though.

I'm still proud of the Eagles. They are in the Top 4 this year!

This is cool. I've been a Bucs fan since they came into existance in 1976 and I lived there. I've always liked them, even when they stunk, and they've stunk for so long, and now they're the best team in the NFL. Sweet!

I was in Tampa when they came into existence too. This town has been rabid for this for a long time. They did it and earned it. Good for ya, BUCS! Enjoy your glory...

The spots were the best ads I've seen in years. The castaway, the Osbournes and the Office Linebacker were highlights for me.

You missed a great pepper steak, Artex...

Congrats Artex. As I told my Eagles fan friends the week before, Gruden and the Bucs had a lot to do with how poorly the Raiders played. It's not easy to find receivers and complete passes when you hear very big footsteps and you are behind by two touchdowns midway through the fourth quarter.

Gruden picked apart two good teams! More power to them, but I prefer the nice Bucs of years past, to be honest. They were a very nice, considerate, generous team.

Congratulations to the Bucs, and to Artex and whoever else has been a faithful fan.

They had a great season, played a great game against the Eagles to get to the big dance, and had another great day yesterday.

My Super Bowl column:
That was Armageddon
It's hard to get excited over the Super Bowl when the Eagles' hopes of playing in the game were dashed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a week earlier.
On one level, it would have been nice to see the class bully put in his place.
On another, the result of the game vindicated the Eagles just a bit. Their defeat at the hands of Tampa Bay win was not a fluke, not some chance alignment of stars and planets.
I tried to watch the game. Honest, I did!
Twice I tuned in to the game, but left after watching a few moments of play.
It was like deja vu all over again, to quote Yogi Berra.
Was that Rich Gannon or Donovan McNabb? Why were the Eagles wearing white and black jerseys?
Why did I feel like I knew the script?
When Jon Gruden left the Eagles to take over the Oakland Raiders, I thought the Birds had made a bad mistake by not signing him on as head coach here.
After a couple of seasons at Oakland, Gruden did not manage to even get to the Super Bowl, so then it seemed as though maybe the Eagles had not made a mistake after all.
When Gruden went from Oakland to Tampa Bay last year, it did not even register on my radar. After all, the Buccaneers had been overly generous to the Eagles for years.
Suddenly, after the Eagles lost to Gruden's mob of cutthroats and brigands, our old offensive coordinator began to seem like a genius again.
He had methodically taken apart the Eagles' offense as though he had a copy of their playbook (Did the theft of that playbook last summer have anything to do with Gruden? You have to wonder!).
And you almost know he knew the Raiders' playbook by heart. Heck, he probably wrote most of it.
It may have won a Super Bowl, but it was not exactly compelling TV football, unless you happen to like the sight of one team getting stomped into the ground. To be sure, I have no objection to one team being stomped into the ground, as long as the stomping is being administered by guys wearing midnight green.
But when two other teams play in the big game, a lop-sided game is the last thing I want to see. I want a game that has some suspense, at least after the first five minutes have elapsed.
The trouble with Tampa Bay this year is that only the first few minutes have any interest. If you don't score 100 points against them in the first five minutes, you lose!
What happened in the Bucs' last two games was not a game. It was a massacre.
It was like, well, ... pirates swarming over the rail, cutlasses in mouths, Arrrr!
It was Blackbeard, bits of fuse burning in his long black beard, wielding a cutlass as he led his men over the side.
It was Long John Silver plotting to take over the ship.
It was your worst nightmare.
They should have aired a warning so parents could have protected their offspring from the sheer terror the Buccaneers inflicted on otherwise innocent football teams and their fans.
No, that was no Super Bowl.
That was Armageddon, plain and simple!

FG, it is tempting, but it would be rather classless of me, to suggest that first the Eagles laid down for the Bucs, then the Raiders did...so I won't even hint at it. ;)

The Bucs won the big game, so they must be the best team. At least, this month they are.

...

Right???
Fritz

I agree, they totally dominated the Raiders... it's not that imposters showed up, it's that Gannon never got a chance to settle down and Callahan is an idiot to not even trying to establish a running game... and Al Davis's BAD KARMA
