Nor'easter's - gather ye mugs!View Messages“Okay, before I have to blast out to work... Who would be interested in getting together for a non-BP'ing gathering? I'm thinking food and drinks...sometime next week? Come ye merry men and ladies to the big crapple for some mead.....arrrggghhhh!” 8:25:09 AM 1/15/03 “Okay, as much as I HATE going into the city.. I'll make an exception this time. Could we not do it on Friday though? I'm thinking of jetting to you-know-where and sleeping near the trailhead for the trip so I can get in another bag night. How about Thursday?” 8:28:09 AM 1/15/03 “yeah..speaking of you know where...where the heck is that email???” 8:29:07 AM 1/15/03 “How about in Mob Town(Baltimore)?” 8:31:39 AM 1/15/03 “You never got the email, Twinkles?!?! Egad, I know I sent it to you! Call me at work if you get this in time, I can tell you the details over the phone.” 8:33:06 AM 1/15/03 “Dare and I will be in the city on Monday (1/20)! hic” 2:21:36 PM 1/15/03 “Hasn't New York been through enough the past two years lol - have fun y'all.” 2:24:12 PM 1/15/03 “Amyg, that would work for me, this way i can spend more then 5 mins with ya both. :)” 2:24:37 PM 1/15/03 “Talking about Nor'easters, Accuweather has a funny way of showing their snow predictions. They have a map showing two colors, one swath is labeled "Plowable smowfall" and the other one is labeled "Nuisance snowfall". NJ as you can well guess, is covered by the label "Nuisance" Well we try.” 2:44:11 PM 1/15/03 “Y'all oughta just over to Easton, Pa. It's centrally located for most all the Nor'easters. Within 1-2 hours from New Yawk, Filthydelphia, Joisey, and even the NE Pa folks in the Scranton area.” 5:28:58 PM 1/15/03 you are right Pennsy! Be right there... “lol Lyndy! "A" for effort. Cool...Party at Pennsy's house! Can we pick out our own party favors? (I get the bibler!) ;D” 5:40:36 PM 1/15/03 “Dibs on his Dodge!!! :-D” 5:55:03 PM 1/15/03 “Hey, this might be my chance to finally vacuum the carpet. That is, if there is a carpet under all that gear.” 6:05:16 PM 1/15/03 “Iffin' you're gonna talk about gettin together in the Northeast, how's about coming truly Northeast and meet in South Portland maine!!!!! I feel so left out...” 6:05:21 PM 1/15/03 “We can haul it all away in his sleds.......” 6:11:04 PM 1/15/03 “Party at Pennsy's place.. then the next night... party at Uphill Klimber and Skeetah Bait's place!!! Yahoooooooo!!! hiccup!” 6:17:08 PM 1/15/03 “Hey, we can practice cramming people into a cabin. Our house is just about that size...” 6:18:42 PM 1/15/03 “Twink-POSt your pref. Where do you live ?” 5:51:45 AM 1/16/03 “pfffttt! not much snow coming now. Party at Pennsy's place sounds fun. Or party at Campmor would be fun. Is there a place near Campmor that would be good without going all the way into the city?” 9:27:41 AM 1/16/03 “I can't come to greater NYC, too far, but if you do meet in Easton, or somewhere central or western NJ, I would enjoy seeing you all.” 9:33:19 AM 1/16/03 “There’s a Hooters near Campmor.” 9:38:19 AM 1/16/03 “LOL, I need a muzzle that fits a musthike, anyone?” 9:39:59 AM 1/16/03 “Whoops that post was supposed to be on the Nor'easter's Men Only - gather ye mugs!” 9:44:38 AM 1/16/03 “LOL, Must Hike that is okay, you can stay on this thread. But I'm having some trouble with this. I did a search on microbreweries and got zilch. I looked for Brewpubs and got a few for central jersey, but nothing that I am real familiar with. Anyone know of a good hangout place that is easy to reach by highway from PA and NYC?” 9:55:18 AM 1/16/03 “Okay, here it is. The Harvest Moon Brewery/Cafe on George Street in New Brunswick (there is a train station nearby which may be of some help to the New Yorkers). Not far from the I-287 and the turnpike. I have never been, and you may get mugged on the street there, but we could just stick together.” 10:00:50 AM 1/16/03 “Probably a Rutgers hangout.” 10:05:00 AM 1/16/03 “Could be. There is a website where people were rating the brews and food, and some of the posts looked like businesspeople, not kids. I used to go to this area all the time with my brother as teens and 20-somethings to go to Stuff Yer Face, a place where they had great strombolis long before the fake ones you can buy for the freezer. They had a horseradish dip for french fries that was delish. Of course, that was a place for the young and highly metabolized. Also on George Street was the playhouse where there were good productions of musicals and plays. I think that they recently ran out of money though.” 10:10:02 AM 1/16/03 “NJ is ok by me, just lets try to make it a weekend thing. Maybe on a Sat. AmyG, If you want we can still maybe hook up on Monday. I work in Greenwich Village.” 10:15:21 AM 1/16/03 “Hmmmmm this seems to have died. Do we need to pick a nother different location?” 1:02:11 PM 1/16/03 “I am planning to go to Rutgers next Saturday, when they have their Geology Museum open house. They have four great lectures scheduled that day. I usually lunch around the corner from the hall. The restaurant you mentioned is in the business/shopping district and pretty safe.” 1:23:07 PM 1/16/03 “392 George St. is just blocks from the train station and Rutgers.” 1:27:32 PM 1/16/03 Lecture schedule: “10:00 am--Arsenic, Ground Water, and the Newark Basin, NJ: Michael Serfes, NJ Geological Survey 11:00 am--Asteroids or Comets Begin and End the Dinosaur Era: Paul Olsen, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University 2:00 pm--How Old is the Earth? How Science Answers the Question of the Ages: Brent Turrin, Rutgers University 3:00 pm--The Eye Vs. Machine--How We Perceive Fluorescent Minerals: Earl Verbeek, Sterling Hill Mining Museum If anybody is interested, let me know and I'll send more details.” 1:32:53 PM 1/16/03 “hey - sorry I haven't posted - work has been a mad house.... I was thinking somewhere in NYC - cause that's where I live - subways....aka "not having to worry about drinking and driving" However, I am open to the other suggestions... Geo - the lectures sound cool - please send more info!” 2:21:46 PM 1/16/03 “Lectures are in the auditorium of Scott Hall at College Ave and Hamilton St. There is a map of the College Ave. campus at map link From train station, go right on Easton Ave., right on Somerset St. and left on College Ave. Scott Hall is a block up the street after you cross Hamilton, on the right. Front of the building can be accessed by turning right on Hamilton St. and walking up the walkway in front of the buildings. A little more info about the event is at link to site I hope to get there by about 9:30 if I plan my trip right.” 2:47:11 PM 1/16/03 “ok Geo, does that mean that after all said and done you will be able to join us if we go here?” 2:49:21 PM 1/16/03 “During the lunch break, yeah, or after the lectures are over. Doncha wanna learn about arsenic in ground water in the Newark Basin?” 2:52:07 PM 1/16/03 “Nope I learned about that stuff while kayaking in the Hudson!” 2:58:45 PM 1/16/03 “So that's what happened to your kayak!” 3:03:52 PM 1/16/03 “and then i turned a funny color green whats up with that?” 3:12:21 PM 1/16/03 “Have you noticed your tongue growing longer, a propensity toward jumping, and a tendency to say "ribit?"” 3:15:26 PM 1/16/03 “no but at one point I was staring to look like a rabbit.....” 3:19:41 PM 1/16/03 “Your tongue is growing longer? Hhmmm, very interesting!!!” 3:21:30 PM 1/16/03 “We can talk this up more next week. As I said, I am planning to be there that day.” 3:27:51 PM 1/16/03 Pennsy's Party Room? “Believe it or not, this is my dining room. Grab a seat and make yourself at home. ”4:29:41 PM 1/16/03 “I should also note that this is my neatest and least cluttered room.” 4:31:31 PM 1/16/03 “A HA!!! There is the machine that Pennsy is building his bionic legs... He's probably doing hack sqauts with 800lbs to put us all to shame........ His training routine is to do 10 reps @ 800 lbs....Run a mile....take a picture, than repeat......” 4:51:11 PM 1/16/03 “Look at all the dust on that weight machine.....tsk, tsk. lol!” 6:30:05 PM 1/16/03 “Looks like a easy access when packing for a trip, just grab your stuff and run out the door. You can probably pack really fast since everything is right there.” 6:38:23 PM 1/16/03 “HAHA!! and there ain't no dust on that macheene, Mister Buddha. Of course, I really don't need it because I get a good workout just getting to the thing. ;o) Thank you Rich! I am glad someone sees why logic. For some reason, my mother did not agree on her last visit.” 6:46:24 PM 1/16/03 “sees my logic, not why logic. DOH!” 9:14:57 PM 1/16/03
