Who would be interested in getting together for a non-BP'ing gathering? I'm thinking food and drinks...sometime next week?

“Talking about Nor'easters, Accuweather has a funny way of showing their snow predictions. They have a map showing two colors, one swath is labeled "Plowable smowfall" and the other one is labeled "Nuisance snowfall". NJ as you can well guess, is covered by the label "Nuisance"

“Y'all oughta just over to Easton, Pa. It's centrally located for most all the Nor'easters. Within 1-2 hours from New Yawk, Filthydelphia, Joisey, and even the NE Pa folks in the Scranton area.”

“LOL, Must Hike that is okay, you can stay on this thread. But I'm having some trouble with this. I did a search on microbreweries and got zilch. I looked for Brewpubs and got a few for central jersey, but nothing that I am real familiar with. Anyone know of a good hangout place that is easy to reach by highway from PA and NYC?”

“Okay, here it is. The Harvest Moon Brewery/Cafe on George Street in New Brunswick (there is a train station nearby which may be of some help to the New Yorkers). Not far from the I-287 and the turnpike. I have never been, and you may get mugged on the street there, but we could just stick together.”

“Probably a Rutgers hangout.”

“Could be. There is a website where people were rating the brews and food, and some of the posts looked like businesspeople, not kids. I used to go to this area all the time with my brother as teens and 20-somethings to go to Stuff Yer Face, a place where they had great strombolis long before the fake ones you can buy for the freezer. They had a horseradish dip for french fries that was delish. Of course, that was a place for the young and highly metabolized.

Also on George Street was the playhouse where there were good productions of musicals and plays. I think that they recently ran out of money though.”

“I am planning to go to Rutgers next Saturday, when they have their Geology Museum open house. They have four great lectures scheduled that day. I usually lunch around the corner from the hall. The restaurant you mentioned is in the business/shopping district and pretty safe.”

“Lectures are in the auditorium of Scott Hall at College Ave and Hamilton St. There is a map of the College Ave. campus at map link

From train station, go right on Easton Ave., right on Somerset St. and left on College Ave. Scott Hall is a block up the street after you cross Hamilton, on the right. Front of the building can be accessed by turning right on Hamilton St. and walking up the walkway in front of the buildings.
