Pekka, I was also going to mention how darn cold it is here - going down to 9 degrees again tonight, but none of the white stuff on the ground. I would certainly feel better about the temperature if it at least looked nice outside!

They just announced on the news this is the most snow (6")we have had since 1996. I thought it had been longer than that.
I bet the the higher elevations get 10-12" of snow.

Smokygirl, keep us update on how much snow you get over there

Well, it finally snowed early this morning. A couple inches of powder that is now blowing around, slicking the roads nicely. 12+F and windy, so Northern Wisconsin looks like winter again.

Dang...Lost Ma Dog In The White Stuff
Went out to start and warm up the car and ended up having to shovel myself out of the house. We got 4-6 inches last night.

However, it's 29F out (snowball hell at work today) and it's supposed to get warmer. How's come when finally there's enough snow for snowshoes around here it always melts before you can put them on???

Drove home through a nasty snow storm in central Wisconsin last evening, that tapered to nothing by the time we reached the North Woods -- then woke up to find the storm had finally gotten to us. About 6 inches when I got out to snowblow at 8 a.m., then snowed all day, but not as hard. Still some coming down. The snowmobilers are thrilled (but I'm not a snowmobiler! I want spring!)

Snow has stopped in northern Wisconsin (had 9" by 9 p.m. last night and a bit more came down after that), replaced this morning by dropping temps and mixed clouds and sun -- single digit cold and 25mph winds now taking over for some real chill to go with all the snow.

First act of the day was to crank up the snowblower and clear the mouth of the driveway where the plow had filled it in.

Calling Chief, hello Chief!
Red Lodge got about another 3 feet of powder yesterday; that was on top of about another 3-5 feet!
I skipped out of work and went up. The upper parking lot was only about 3/4 full so we had the place to ourselves. Can't move today, but it was fun...

Aero...Calling Aero...Come In Aero...
I will be up for sure on Saturday. I will be bringing my two daughters and I think a couple of their friends, which means I will get some time to ski by myself.

Are you going to be there? Maybe I'll see you in the Bierstube around noon.

Well, the snow tapered off yesterday, but the temps filled in as the sky cleared -- woke up to 20 below at 6 a.m. today. Now all our snow is squeeky.

Our poor male dog is having a tough time getting the right angle on the snow banks -- and our sheltie isn't thrilled at wading into the deep stuff, even for her beloved frisbee.

Sorry I can't ship it your way Sass.

Hey, Aero!!!!!!!!
Did you make it up on Saturday? We tried. Got to Red Lodge and traffic was backed up to the Super 8. Cop was turning everyone back. Said there were too many people up there already. I guess they were parked a mile or so below the gate, and they had to walk because the shuttle wasn't running. My daughter and her friends were pissed off, let me tell you.

I guess we'll head up on Friday and spend the night to make sure we get there early enough.

Hey Chief. Nope, I bagged it. I heard it was so crowded in the parking area that they were double parked down the road. I usually go up early and get there before the lifts open anyway, but it sounded like a zoo! The mountain itself wasn't crowded (I heard). They've gotten 8 1/2 feet so far in just February!

Sounds like a good idea to get there early. You must be about the same distance from there as me. It's 66 miles from my driveway to the parking lot and I usually leave about 7:30. I'll try here in another week or so, maybe Sunday...

Yeah, about the same. A co-workers husband went up Saturday and got there early (8:00), but still had to park on the road. She went up yesterday and got there around 8:15 and was below the gate. Too much!! And, next weekend the ski races are supposed to take place.

I heard Cooke City has gotten around 12-15 feet in the last two weeks. Can you confirm?
