IT'S SNOWING!!!!!

“No snow, but it's chilly. -18F this morning. I think they expect some snow here Tuesday and Wednesday.”

“Gosh I envy you folks. It was a miserable 75 degrees with blue skies yesterday. It's suposed to get up to 76 today. It's just awful, but somebody's got to endure it. I just hate being outside on a day like that.”

“wow. it stopped (for now) here, had to push thru about 8" to get out of the garage this morning.”

“5 inches and still snowing. More is expected tonight and tomorrow. Blargh.”

“Where in the hell is my snow?”

“I had a bit of trouble getting the dogs going this morning, and they almost turned the sled over three times, but we made it into work. I've got the dogs tethered in the parking lot. I've got to go feed them now.”

“We got about 5 inches snow yesterday followed by a good icying. And for some strange reason I'm craving glazed donuts. You know its cold when your dog is walking on top of the iced snow and post holing here and there.”

“It may be rain to the south, but here in the Wisconsin Northwoods we are getting dumped on good with heavy, wet snow.

At least six inches when I got up at 7 and coming down very steadily still. I'm not planning to snowblow until it takes at least a short pause.

But if you are looking for snow, we've got it again. 8(”

“We had some sleet just a few days ago and now it's 80 freakin' degrees.”

“Snake Eyes, I'm in Rhinelander. And just as you said, shortly after I posted there was the one two of the city plow going by and filling up the mouth of the driveway and then the snow stopped, meaning it was time to stop drinking coffee and looking at TT and don big boots, big gloves, etc., and crank up the snowblower.

It took about an hour and 15 minutes to do the double-wide drive I share with the neighbor, the sidewalks, and the driveway mouth for the neighbor on the other side.

The whole time, the temp was rising and the snow compacting. Maybe it won't stay long.”

“My daughter lives in Eagle River. I was planning on going over there today, but whimped out because of the snow. Maybe tomorrow. Every do any hikin'?”

“Snake Eyes, sure do. Been hampered the last couple years by a heel problem, but it may have resolved finally, so this spring will be the test.

Lots of places to go around here; I've been over to the Blackjack Springs Wilderness a couple times. That's east of Eagle River off of Hwy 70. Not to mention Anvil Trail and others.”

“I have perfected the art of work avoidance behavior so if you ever want to hit the trail, just give a post. I've got more time than money.”

“Things were looking good yesterday afternoon. The new inch or so we got in the A.M. (on top of the 8 inches Friday A.M.) had melted off the cars and sidewalks. But went to bed after a "winter weather advisory" had been posted, and arose at 7:30 to a fresh 6 to 8 inches of wet snow, with a steady fall still underway.

Nothing to do at this point but sit back, drink coffee, wait for the plow to clear the street (and block the drive) and the snow to stop, then crank up the snowblower again.

If you want to come to snow country, here we are. And even more to the north. Marquette in the U.P. got something like 15 inches on Friday.”

“Well, 2 hours later and the snowblowing is finished for the moment. The wonders of cable TV -- watch the radar on the Weather Channel so you know when the snow is about to end and you start getting dressed to go out and snowblow.

No city plows yet, but the neighbor I share a double drive with had come out with his smaller blower, so I hopped to and between the two of us, with reino moving vehicles and shoveling the borders along the house and garage, it only took about a half hour. I even cleared part of the street on either side of the driveway entrance in hopes of minimizing the fill in when the plows finally arrive.
If you are in line from us to the east, prepare for some white stuff as the low pressure system moves your way. Sounds like NY will be getting it tomorrow after it crosses northern Michigan and Ontario.”

“that is, I love hearing about snow as I enjoy the 70's and 80's we're experiencing in Florida these days. Anyone for the beach?

“Sure you don't mean "blow, blow, blow," mataharihiker? Even though it's been high moisture snow, the gusts have been high enough to whip it around at times.

As for you, nowslimmer, we will be reveling in highs in the upper 30s by Tuesday, according to the NWS, so there! :-p”
