Hit the REI used gear sale and was pretty happy.

Down Vest (North Face)
Winter hiking/climbing pants (North Face)
a bunch of little things

gf got an REI down travel sleeping bag.

With the cold spell, I am glad to have some good quality options for warmth.

Dang, I forgot to go again this year! Oh and I know it wasn't at the gear sale but congrats on the new wheels Sass. We'll be tearing up the trails in no time! Course ifn you'd wanted to we could have gone out with the MMBA in 1 1/2 feet of snow this morning. Notice, I'm posting instead.

As everyone knows, I really DO have everything I need, however, the draw to the REI Garage sale is like a junk looking for a fix.

With that in mind, I was looking forward to going to the sale at the REI store to the north of me yesterday. I get there, doors open and the fun starts happening. Ya can't even move. I'm not looking for anything, just browsing. I spot a pair of ski poles with one basket broken and add them for 8 bucks. I piked up a small hydro backpack for Kerry (got a platy to replace the broken nalgene). After I go over and pick up a Ridge Rest 3/4 (switching up my sleep pad situation), I get outta there about 75.00 light, and Kerry and I go dayhiking today at a local park!

But before that.....

We go to the other sale at the Northville store. We get there too early, not knowing that it didn't start until 10:00 cuz it's Sunday.

We grab some breakfast realy quick then get in line. Doors open, yadda yadda, I'm crammed in the back warehouse. People are grabbing everything they can, then go back into the store to sort it all out.

Everything's basically gone in ten minutes. I start looking at the pick overs with little success. Just to make myself feel better, I picked up a pair of old fleece gloves for ten bucks, which later get placed back on the table.

I come out and my wife is out in the store with a kid backpack carrier that our friends were loking for. I tell her I saw a better one back in their, plus it has a stroller.

I go back in. I pick up the stroller. I decide to walk past the pack table for the 8th time, just fer chits and giggles.

And there it was. I've seen them only on line, but you would know it if you saw it.

It was a Kelty Cloud.

It was 129.00.

Couple of things need to be taken care of on it, but it's a wild pack.

It truly is the most comfortable pack I've ever put on, so of course I had to liberate it!

so are you trying to tell me that I don't have to stop shopping for gear just because I have everything??

Thank you god, thank you!!!

Great deal on the cloud. Always wanted one, but they normally do cost a fortune.

The White Pack ------- !

The same one they're selling this very instant New on the REI site for $750?

Seems like the last time I looked, they had a 4500 and a 6500. Now they appear to have 'split the difference'.

Tilt - Close. Same material, smae everything, execpt that my straps are gold in color and is the 3,500 to 4,500 cubic inch range. The one you listed, is 5,052 cu. in.

However, this is almost a 450.00 dollar pack!

The attaching clips are broken on the side pouches, so they don't stay clipped to the main pack. The sale tag, under problem, said "Call Vendor", so I'm thinking that Kelty will stand by their product, and I'll get that problem fixed, hopefully for free!

This thing is the chit, I tell no lie. Way more room than I could use, this upcoming hike season is going to be nice!

It's white, but baby...it's just sooooooo right!

Pack can be stripped down to the main compartment (3,500), which is 1 lb. It comes with two hip belts, the bigger of the two has memory foam in it. I'm gonna try and load it up today and give it a spin.

Now, the interesting thing is that on the pack, it's sez it's a Cloud, but on the product reg card, I have a Vapor sticky tag. Maybe it could have been the only thing they got.

Going to contact Kelty and see how this goes. I understand that Kelty really only like to deal with the original purchaser; however, the REI tag on the bag said to call them.

I forgot to mention the Columbia Titanium winter boots for 10 bucks, slightly used.

Great News!
Just got off the phone with my wonderful new friends at Kelty.

They will be sending off replacement clips for my new pack, free of charge.

Fast, friendly and very hip, customer service was outstanding!

Lol! I was going to also say don't tell them you are the second buyer....we bought a Mtsmith Specter 2 years ago at an REI garage sale..and the company fixed it for us, free of charge. Hehheh!!

Really, it shouldn't matter to a company what number of owner you are. Their product needs service and that's all that should count. If owner number one wasn't a lazy @ss who just returned the stuff instead of contacting the company they woulda had to take care of the problem anyways.

I agree, Sass. Who ever bought it never even put any trail miles on it. The store tags were still on the pack.

It was returned on the 11 of Jan and it was obvious that it wasn't an experianced hiker that owned it.
