Hole in Tent “I have a hole in the bottom of my Marmot Equinox tent about the size of a dime. The tent came with the material to patch a hole but did not come with directions on the best way to do it. Does any one have any tips or suggestions before I give this a try. Thanks for your time.” 8:24:23 PM 1/18/03 “BigRob, I just asked a similar question to the board regarding my goretex shell. Send it back to Marmot, and let them fix it, even if they charge you, you don't risk screwing it up any more.. Good luck!” 8:27:50 PM 1/18/03 “no problem....you'll need a cuttin torch, some wd-40 and a spool of bailing wire......i'll wait here till ya get back...” 8:28:32 PM 1/18/03 “If you are going to patch the floor use a sewing machine to sew it on. It'll do a better job and look better too. Seal the seams when your done.” 8:32:10 PM 1/18/03 “stratdewd I cant find my cuttin torch, but I have lots of Duct Tape some WD-40 and bailing wire. Can I substitute a big fire in place of the cutting torch? If so im ready.” 8:56:14 PM 1/18/03 “I fixed a hole like that once by slapping on a self-adhesive patch from a thermarest repair kit. It took 2 seconds and hasn't leaked in 8 years.” 12:23:36 AM 1/19/03 “I thought you were supposed to cut the hole in the side of the tent..” 7:14:45 AM 1/19/03 “Fast field repair is to put a duct tape patch on the inside and outside of the hole. Otherwise, send it back and have Marmot do the repair.” 10:28:52 AM 1/20/03 “Jeeze. Just use some goop (seam grip, liquid nails, what have you), a square of waterproof nylon and fix it!” 2:45:24 PM 1/20/03 “Marmot is great to deal with. I sent them in my 8 year old coat when it started to unravel and they fixed it all up and sent it right back at no charge. I am sure they will take good care of you.” 3:28:25 PM 1/20/03
