-30, at 16,000 feet on Denali. (That's Mt. McKinley for the plain spoken).

Big Wave Dave, did you summit Denali? I'd like to hear the story, got any pictures?

Yes, I summited. A group of my buddies and I climbed her in 1983. I have not been able to find my photos in about three moves...I think they may still be at my mothers house in Chicago.

Next time you're in SLC, buy me a beer and I'll tell you all about it.

I think 17 degrees is the lowest for me so far.

Do folks have the same sayings that they have for heat?

HPM has a whole crew of newbie scouts out camping this weekend. No problem with the temps so far, but they kept close proximity to the fire when the thermometer read 20 degrees.

I thought it was cold 2 weeks ago in the Catskills when he hit a low of 3. That got tossed out the window this past Friday in the Adirondacks when it dropped to minus 17. Well, that got topped the next night at minus 19. I DO NOT want to camp in anything colder than that. Brrrrrrr

I'm putting in an order for non-negative temperatures for next year's FYAO. Artex just may have to be muted!
;p

I guess I'm a wimp, cuz I couldn't endure lower than -17. Sigh...what will my friends say? Oh, wait...they all think I'm CRAZY (other than TTers, of course)

Six of us were at Hoist Lake, Michigan this Saturday night. When Tom S. crawled into his sleeping bag, the temperature on his thermometer had dropped to 10 below zero and was still falling. He thinks it may have bottomed out around 15 below zero.

I didn't have a thermometer. Using the alcohol-meter, the wine froze but the brandy didn't.

I made it down to 10 degrees (plus) before I came to my senses and realized it was not fun anymore. Now I will not camp out if there is a chance of it dropping below 25.
