I had a sore achilles a long long time ago - rest was the only thing that helped it. A friend of mine has been trying to overcome her achilles problem... for the past year! So it seems like rest is the way to go. I would think there might be some combo of ice, massage, etc. to help it along. Resist the urge to stretch it, though. I have been completely unmotivated to run since the marathon. I've been pretty busy with other stuff - e.g., I coulda gone out today and run a long run, but just puttered around the house all day long.... One of these days it'll come back. My knees, ankles and feet felt great compared to the first try. I was feeling pretty good about getting back on track, possibly. Then Thursday night my back started hurting. I figured I wrenched it carrying my school bag full of books or something. Got so bad yesterday afternoon I was walking hunched over so I got a number for a chiropractor. Got the xrays taken and went to go lay on the warm water treatment table to relax the muscles before adjustment. When I walked back in the room my xray was up on the lightbox and it was immediately obvious to me I have scoliosis. The Dr. confirmed. I was really surprised by the amount of curve. Pretty darn bummed out to find out it's heretitary, (my mom has it) and Abby will most likely have it. Most bummed out that the Dr. says I should not be running anymore. =( Anyone else have any experience with scoliosis and running? I looked online to see if I could find any help at runners world, etc. No luck. I don't want to stop forever. last edited: 2/26/05 7:44:13 AM” 7:39:20 AM 2/26/05 “Which kind? I'm assuming since it was noticable to the eye, it's an s or c curve? That stinks :-( I have the type of scoliosis where the spine does a twist on it's way down, which is why my right hip is 1/4-1/2" higher than the left. And, it's what the doc attributes to the numbness I get in my feet as well as my back pain. My only suggestion... get a second opinion. My chiro says I'd be better off if I didn't hike or run, but also says it's not going to make my back problems any worse by continuing to do so.” 8:18:38 AM 2/26/05 “Both, but the "s" is more evident. Dad and I decided to race up the last hill. He beat me, of course. His pal said we broke a rule of the weekend run; we made our running a competition.
