I'm moving, Kinda...
As most of you know I am a member of the management team of the Salt Lake City REI. A few of you may be aware that REI is opening a new store in the SLC market. The new store will be located in Sandy Utah. This is a very exciting time for the company, we are doing well and the Salt Lake market is one of our strongest. The new Sandy location will be a great asset to the company and just a great store period!

I have accepeted a management position at the new location. I am very excited to face the challenges of opening a new location, hiring and training a new team, and building my buisness from the ground up. I will miss my old team at Salt Lake, some of the finest people I have ever had the privilidge of working with.

If any TT'ers are in the area, I will be at SLC through Friday the 24th. I will be in the Sandy Temp offices beginning on Monday the 27th. The new Sandy location is slated to open around April 1st.

Please feel free to drop in and say hi at either location. Come in and see our news store when we open and ask for me, I'd love to meet all of you.

These are exciting times!

Also, If any of you will be in SLC for the OR show, drop me a line...

Congrats, Dave. I didn't know we were getting a new REI until last night. I could use a career change so maybe I will fill out an app.

Griz, good to see you back. What have you been up to?

Congratulations Dave
BWD, judging by the way you've handled yourself here and answered business related questions, I'd say they picked "THE MAN" for the job. Know you'll do well.

Hey Chili.

You know where you can get guidebooks. I'll actually be doing hiking this year so maybe I can hit the trail with you this time.

Add my congratulations, that's a pretty resounding vote of confidence in your abilities. I'm sure you'll shine.

I'll try to stop in on my way thru to wherever, the Uintas, the Winds, Bighorns . . .

COOL MANG! 2 questions....

1; is it really sandy there?

2; can we use treebeards credit cards there?

1) Yes, the soil is mostly sand here. The town is located in an area that was "The Shoreline" of ancient lake Bonneville (about 65,000 to 70,000 years ago). So, in a way, I live on the beach....

2) That is entirely up to Treebeard. If you come in the store and present the card for tender, you will need to provide I.D. and some form of doccumented permission form the cardholder. We may call the cardholder to verify permission of usage. If you place a phone order, especially from out of state, with Treebeards card (even with his permission) that constitutes fraud and you may be subject to prosecution.
