Journey of Man(pbs)-AWESOME tv show

“This was an awesome show on pbs last night.Did anyone else see it.They talked about how every race emanated from the african race just 50,000 yrs ago and how we all got different color and features thru migration from differring climate zones/changes...they tracked down the a man in kazakstan who's ancestor was the original african who made the break from africa only 50k years ago to central asia and who's gene is in every european persons dna today!!Anyway i know i'm screwing up some of the details but the linkage they showed was awesome.I wish i had videotaped it.”

“no, but i saw an IMAX show by Cirque de Soleil with the same title. it was awesome, too! it sounds like it's the same theme as the PBS show, only without words. there was one part where a woman was lifting a man, and it was INSANE. i can't even imagine how strong she must have been!

“It's a "video essay".. fancy schmancy term for a documentary with no voice-over narration. Instead, it's accompanied by tribal singing, chanting, music. It was shot with 70mm film, so the color and depth are incredible.

i guess they could have also called the show 'origination of backpacking' since our ancestors walked out of africa carrying stuff.”

“It wasn't bad, but you have to admit that the guy was a pompous ass. He'd go to these remote locations with thousands of years of culture, wait for everyone to tell their creation stories and then say, "well, I have my own way of explaining this - it's called science."

How can you draw a line? I am not being sarcastic, just asking a legitimate question. While I differ with you on the age of rocks, I concur as to the Rock of Ages. We, as humans, under any theory are separated by culture and levels of advancement. Much the same way we are diverse within our own culture. Not everyone is the same, that is a fact. But is it not the same to consider ourselves to be above another as to consider others to be beneath us?”

“Thats very honorable of you Chili to speak out against racism. Sadly I don't believe racism will ever die, only change colors. There is just too many people and finger pointing to get everyone on the same page.

So is making those comments about SteveH the right way to pursue what you wish to achieve? We all know he dropped the N bomb like several times from the cries of others But where do the personal attacks come into the formula of freeing the world of racism. So you all chased him away, hooray!! this place is so much better.

Has he admitted to being the card carrying member so many of you proclaimed him to be. Has he expressed superiority over other races, in your terms. I don't know. It is apparent that dropping the N bomb is not for everyone and also uncensored here or at least was until the cries of others.”

“i thought the idea of the show was fascinating. i too thought the host to be a lil snooty and i kindof thought it was bogus the way he'd say....a group of 10-20 people migrated here....i mean, that's being pretty bold with the theory. but i thought it was cool to see how we're all related and kept thinking about racism and how it could actually help people understand that were really all just people who look different.”

“ya he did come ass pompous but he's prolly right.He's about to pour cold water on a lot of folklore and myths.I cringed when he went to explain his theory to the navajo.I thought they were gonna scalp him.I know indians are pretty sensitive about their origins.”
