Shopping spree
Wow. I never spent the whole thing before at a time- It was kind of fun actually. And I found out where the local R.E.I. was. Damn I'd never seen so much camping stuff in one place before. I bought some gaiters there, the short ones. Then I went clothes shopping (and this is where I could of really used a credit card) And spent all the rest of my $234 pay check. WOHOO!

I suppose nobody told you of the service fee that we all have to pay for using TT?

I'll send you my address along with the rates.

Isn't it scary to think that with all their stuff, you could easily and happily spend your next 10 paychecks there!

Yeah, it does. But if you spend a paycheck ever so often it will more than make up for it.

You can spend your dividend even before the check is issued! Just take the statement to your local store. Ours is L-O-N-G gone!

Big Wave Dave, I just ordered my snowboard ($600+ ouch!), so it should be here next week. Can I use my dividend towards the purchase even though its not issued til Feb 17th????? I HOPE the answer is YES???? If not, will REI hold a special order item til the 17th? I HOPE the answer is YES????

If so, I can use mine AND SnowDude's to cover the board!

Unfortunately you cannot use your dividend until it is issued. That's like writing a check on your bank account a couple of weeks before your direct deposit arrives...

Speak to your local REI about holding your board for that duration. A 30 day hold on a S.O. is not unususal. Which REI do you frequent?

You may use Snowdudes dividend after it arrives, but he will need to sign it first.

gear is overpriced. i looked at a dogpack today, it was 45$! it had maybe 5$ in material in it. very plain design. i was thinking i could make one for 10$ and sell them for $20. it's a scam i tell ya!

The price has gone up. It cost me $5 for life. I figure REI charges at least 10% more than you can buy many things elsewhere--so you break even. I don't buy much from REI anymore because so much of what they sell is way too heavy. My dividend checks are 5 or 10 dollars these days. I don't think I will get one at all this year. I sure wish they would start carrying more ultralight things but with their great return policy I guess they need to sell more durable stuff. Going ultralight means you have to replace things pretty often.

I always wanted to join , but after reading the info dave gave. I no longer want to join. I do not have a store near me, You have to buy items at regular prices. So from what I understand you cant get anything back if you buy something on sale.
The voting means nothing to me since I live so far from a store. also i cant rent an intem. If i was going on vacation, and a store was near where im going then maybe. but as of now...its not worth it for me.
I get 10% cause I belong to a trail club.

Maple, BUT you get to shop the garage sales! That's were the real deals are...regularly I'll find stuff for 75% off or more! Sometimes there's absolutey nothing wrong with it. And, REI has competitive prices on most stuff so every little thing one buys at regular price, (food, parachute cord, $22 led headlights, etc) all adds up to a dividend. Plus, they offer a chance to check out and compare gear.

You have Campmor near you though...don't you?
