Maybe I've been living under a rock, but....
just saw this band on Directv Freeview and am blown away.
Called "Live from the backyard in Austin, TX".
This is one good band. Kind of Deadesh, but very tight.
Great party music.
Any fans out there can tell which CDs to buy?

They're good, but they're no Hunt the Wumpus.

I saw that too and if you liked it then you're really in for a treat as I only thought that was a decent show. That must have been a recent show b/c it didn't have their recently deceased guitarist, Mickey Houser, who is way better than the guy who guest starred (although he wasn't bad). A previously mentioned everything they do is great. My fav. cd is "Ain't Life Grand."

Thanks sample!

Artex - Isn't Hunt the Wumpus a "Funk" band rather than a "Jam" band like Widespread Panic?
I have to be in a "Funky" mood to enjoy that type of music. Small doses.
I think I could listen to Panic a long time.

oh, i wish i saw that! i haven't heard a whole lot of Panic, but what i've heard, i've liked...better than Phish and Dead and whatnot. i like that one that goes, "My name is treetop, and I'm higher than all of you..."

Stovestomper - you're thinking of some now broken up upper midwest band who stole the name of my band, "Hunt the Wumpus". They're gone now (thank God) and the REAL Hunt the Wumpus lives! I'm pretty much the only member, since it's all electronic music.

i've been subjected to endless amounts of Dead and Phish. i went to a Phish concert, which was fun as all hell...but when it comes to just listening to a CD, i'd rather not. both of them are too jammy and happy for me. i do admit, i haven't heard many of Panic's songs...
