When did this happen? How did I miss it?

I just thought you'd like me to stay within the implied format of this thread. I promise I won't call you Ole Poop anymore. It was always meant as a term of endearment, anyway.

Welcome back!

Soaking the beans overnight will help soften them for cooking the next day. Yes, you have to plan ahead, but there are worse things.

dang...rocket fuel, indeed!!

hey, i learned something about cooking beans from the Cooking Channel (see, all my TV hours are not "wasted")--you shouldn't put salt in until after the beans are cooked. if you put it in while they're cooking, the beans will stay hard.

Speaking of recipes...
Here's one I thought up while sitting around the fire sippin' Scotch:

"Scotch-Serpant Surprise"
Ingredients:
One large rattlesnake
One medium-to-large alligator
One bottle Scotch

Directions:
1)While bushwacking in swampy terrain, be startled by the presence of a large rattlesnake.
2) Remove rattlesnake's head.
3) Drink half of Scotch to calm nerves.
4) Feed rattlesnake to nearby gator.
5) Drink remaining Scotch.
