with this going on I wonder why the University of Wisconsin didn't make the list of top partying schools

And everyone thought Badgers and Wolverines were mortal enemies. Nice to know that my capital isn't just a place for political scandals and student riots.

In 1969, Payboy Magazine rated the University of Wisconsin at Madison as the top party school in the nation. Back then they self-served beer on tap in the cafeteria. The school newspaper "The Onion" has some of the funniest satires around.

I Was There.... I Should Know
There's a HUGE landslide in Madison, WI that damned up a valley and formed a lake. Hebgen lake if I'm not mistaken (and I could be cause it's been 10 years since I was there).

Whadya mean a huge landslide? Yeah, those 8,000 ft. mountains at Madison had snow come rumbling down them..... hehehee..

Monona and Mendota -- Madison is on the isthmus in between them.

I've been a Wisconsonite for 9 years now, and if there had ever been a landslide or anything tall enough to have a landslide from anywhere around Madison, I'm sure I would have heard of it. Good legislation often gets dammed up in the legislature, which is in Madison, but that has yet to cause a lake to form.

There was a fuss about the nude beach on the Wisconsin River at Mazomanie west of Madison, but that was more a matter of damnation.

Beer is actually still served at the student union, but its not self serve now. Also, the Onion is from Madison but is not really the school paper, it is kind of nice to get it in print instead of reading it online though.

Was in Madison Sunday afternoon on the way back from Chicago. The guys at B-Side Records on State Street said the "performance" was par for the course on State Street, just happened to make the news.
